I have a HH setup with 2 tone 1 volume, started doing some tests today with the quieting the beast mod, all ive done so far is line the control cavity and so far theres a noticable difference so im going to move on and shield the other cavities.
anywho 1st question is...
looking at my pickups they have a metal plate base that you screw into (i asume its grounded into the ground wire coming out the pickup which i asume it is since theres a zero ohm reading betwen the pickup height screws and the tremelo) so when ive lined my pickup cavities do i link the shielding thru to the main body cavity thru the large cap to the ground or do i join the pickup cavity chielding to the pickups ground? which ones seems more sensible?
2nd question:
Ive read that covers for the humbuckers may also provide a bit of extra shielding, do i solder the covers to the base plate of the pickups? and if so do i need to swap the pole screws in the pickups to a non conducting kind? or is it ok for the poles to contact the ground through the covers?
cheers for any help guys!

Humbuckers are by their very nature hum-buckers. Adding covers will enhance the shielding somewhat, but will also make the pickup sound warmer/darker than before.
Usually midpoint along each long seam. DON'T "COOK" THE PICKUP DOING THIS!!!!! BE MOST CAREFUL. Mind the heat.
No,
Yes.

cool cheers sounds like it may be worth having a try.
In relation to grounding the pickup cavities where would you recommend i earth the cavity to? the main body cavity or the pickups baseplate?
