I am currently building a very custom Nashville-ish Tele with a Bigsby trem, Duncan QP's and a Duncan middle Strat-pup, Fender 500k volume and genuine TBX and a 5-way Superswitch. Can anyone help me out with a diagram or instructions for getting the following combinations?: 1) neck only, 2)neck and bridge - neck out of phase, 3)neck and bridge in parallell, 4)middle and bridge and 5) bridge only.

hi Benderbrau,
welcome to GuitarNuts2.
it sounds like you should be able to do all that with the superswitch alone. i don't think you'll even need the S-1. you should send the S-1 to me. i'll find a good home for it. hehehehe!
seriously, lots of folks here should be able to help you with this one. so i'll let someone else sharpen their skills, helping you with this one. you don't get some help, i'll pint you in the right direction.
cheers,
unk

Before this goes further, you need to clarify the desired combinations.
1. Neck only 2. Neck and Bridge out of phase (it doesn't matter which one is out of phase, phase is relative). Is this a SERIES OR PARALLEL COMBINATION? 3. Neck and Bridge in parallel 4. Middle and Bridge (is this also in PARALLEL?) 5. Bridge only

Just to clarify: Of course I know phase i s relative, I just thought it'd be easier to turn the neck leads around (or whatever I need to to) since we're in "that end" of the switch. Never Mind ;D Also, if I'm not mistaken, middle/bridge on a strat is parallel, right? Anyway, what I'm after is a hybrid "Sultans of Twang"- sound... This way, positions 1, 4 and 5 will be bog standard Strat wiring, and the 2 and 3 will be used for cool stuff, since they're never used otherwise

By the way, I guess all these combinations would be parallel... Unless of course I've got it the wrong way around... Sorry, I'm new at this

No worries. Parallel Out Of Phase (OOP) is fairly weak and tinny sounding since the common frequencies subtract (more or less as a function of pickup response and distance from the strings). Series OOP has a louder effect and is my choice over parallel OOP. I might suggest the following configurations: 1. Neck only 2. Neck and Bridge in SERIES out of phase 3. Neck and Bridge in PARALLEL 4. Middle and Bridge in PARALLEL 5. Bridge only With the following super switch wiring: Pole 1. Bridge hot lead (bridge return lead to ground/common) 1. 2. Pole 3 position 2 3. Out 4. Out 5. Out Pole 2. Middle hot lead (middle return lead to ground/common) 1. 2. 3. 4. Out 5. Pole 3. Neck hot lead 1. Out 2. Pole 1 position 2 3. Out 4. 5. Pole 4. Neck return lead 1. Ground/common 2. Out 3. Ground/common 4. 5. Super switch wiring can be determined here: guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=schem&action=display&thread=1158705194For Neck and Bridge in PARALLEL out of phase, the following changes are needed: 1. Neck only 2. Neck and Bridge in PARALLEL out of phase 3. Neck and Bridge in PARALLEL 4. Middle and Bridge in PARALLEL 5. Bridge only With the following super switch wiring changes: Pole 1. Bridge hot lead (bridge return lead to ground/common) 1. 2. Out3. Out 4. Out 5. Out Pole 3. Neck hot lead 1. Out 2. Ground/common3. Out 4. 5.

Thanx a million, I'll try that one Now all I have to do is finish the axe, and I'll make sure to post pictures as soon as it's done Mod 1) I've cooked up a diagram based on the directions above, but I don't know how to show it to you guys for "spell-checking"... Mod 2) Never mind, think I've got it sorted. StewMac has a great description of SuperSwitch wiring by the way!
