often personal messages are overlooked.
these messages can be of great value. especially when one of your friend alerts you privately, to the fact that you have made a gross error in one of your threads.
if you get the message early, before someone responds to an errant post, you can edit that post yourself. that saves on the mass quantities of mouthwash needed to wash down the gold bond foot powder.
i suggest either:
making a habit of looking at the top bar of the home-page after your log-in and also refreshing the home page and checking again just before log-out.
or:
go to the message page, and click on preferences
you can elect to have an alert (pop-up) occur when you have a new message.
the down-side to this is, if the pop-up occurs when you are in the middle of creating a post, you need to click cancel on the pop-up or risk losing some or all of the typing you just did on your post.
you can even have the forum generate an e-mail message to you when you are off-line, if you so desire.
