I'm looking into modding my Jazzmaster but am not really sure as to what I want to do to it yet. I do know that I want to keep the sound I have while opening up some new options. All while keeping the guitar looking the same. Basically I don't want a bunch more switches and knobs and I don't plan on adding humbuckers or anything like that.
What I wanted to get some feed back on is whether it would be possible to mod the rhythm circuit so that the pick up selector still works. This would give you three positions with lead circuit and three with the rhythm circuit for a grand total of two new combinations. (bridge and middle, with the rhythm circuit)... If that is a possible mod do you think it would be worth while?
The other idea I had off the top of my head would employ a mustang switch since those have three positions would it be possible to get normal circuit, the rhythm circuit AND with the exra position the jag thin circuit? This would require re cutting a pickgaurd but would be an almost un noticeable cosmetic mod to the guitar. What do you think?
