a friend of mine wants me to rewire a p-bass for them with new pickups. Im ok with that. this is the setup they want and im also ok with that. www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/standard_pbass.htmlhowever, shouldnt there be no wire from the ground on the tone to the back of the volume pot? isnt this a loop? wouldnt it be better if the wire (black) wend directly to the tone pot? or am i mixing this up? (sorry my skills are in playing and design, not in electrical work ) im also going to shield the guitar. i need a wire from the shielding itself to the back of the tone pot, correct? and one more quick question, the capacitor on a bass should be different than the one on a guitar but what value range are we looking for? ill stop asking questions now. ;D

The wire between the pot shells isn't needed if the cavity is shielded. You don't a wire from the pot to the shielding either as the pot will ground itself against the foil once it's screwed in. And make sure that the pickup (-) and the jack (-) meet at one point.

i wired this bad boy up just like i said i would. using this diagram: www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/standard_pbass.html however, i shielded the cavity and i removed the wire between the pots and i moved the black wire that runs from the pickup to the back of the volume directly to the back of the tone. I also did not bend the third connection point on the volume back on to the shell of the pot. the tone works fine. my volume doent work at all. Im using fender pots if that may make a difference. where did i go wrong? edit/update: Im stupid. I got it. forgot to put in a wire i needed. ;D
