I have a strat with two single coils, one on the neck, one on the bridge, and I'd like to be able to rig it up with a 5-way switch in order to get neck single/both in phase/out of phase parallel/out of phase series/bridge single.
Trouble is, I haven't the foggiest about how to go about this. How would I wire this? Can I even do it? I honestly have no idea how wiring works and basically just follow instructions when I can find them.
Thank you for any help you can give.

This is very similar to the T-riffic mod on the original GN site: The only thing that would be different is you want parallel AND series out of phase, which that doesn't give, but it should be possible by changing the wiring slightly. Do you want your both coils in phase to be series or parallel? Also consider that the T-riffic options, with 2 in phase options, might sound better.

Yes, I'll agree with zamzara and state that you'd want to have the 2 "in phase" options of parallel and series.
The two pickups in parallel sound like the classic Stratocaster sound. (the "Sultans of Swing" sound) Okay I know "Sultans" is not done exactly that way but it's a very close sound to 2 single coils in parallel.
The two pickups in series have a fuller (even muddy-sounding) tone but this gives you higher output and is great with distortion.
By the way, you said you have a Strat with a Neck and Bridge pickup. What else is on there?

Ordinarily I'd agree with wolf, but on a Strat, where we find both the Neck and Bridge have the winding direction and magnetic polarity, I'll have to go against the grain.
Of all the possible out-of-phase combinations available on my Strat, the only one worth a hoot is the Bridge and Neck in series and out-of-phase. It sounds like the Bridge only, until you crank the gain a bit, then it gets all snarly....... not much bottom end, lots of mids, decent highs. Certainly not crystal clear, but also certainly not muddy at all.
I think it should be considered for inclusion in one's tonal arsenal.
