This is a pretty interesting (to me) unit because I pretty much always have an overdrive pedal on, set to clean boost. So I'd probably use the Tweed modes. Anyway, has anyone tried one of these things? the only downfall is all the knobs and switches that need to mounted. A tad pricey too. (here's a link) store.guitarfetish.com/anammotuampa.html

Looks like you could put in the concentric pot for volume and gain on J1 and J2, and a push pull pot for one of your tone pots... and wire J3 and J4 into that. No need for additional switches or pots.
I would most likely wire one of my tone pots as a master tone and use two separate pots for volume and gain. I'm not much of a tone pot guy, though... don't know how you are with that.
Either way, you can do this without changing the appearance of your guitar at all.

I don't even have Tone knobs on my guitars. That's part of the problem - i only have the volume, set far away, where the Tone usually is. So I'd either have to move the volume closer or cut new holes.
I'll probably end up trying one eventually. It would just be too cool not to have to use an external pedal, if it has that classic TS9/808 sound.

Well, you could replace your volume with a concentric pot for gain and volume. Then just set modboard to be on when you plug in the jack... and the only way to turn it off would be to unplug your output jack. This means there would be no bypass unless you put in a switch at some point.
The only problem with no bypass is if the battery goes dead... you get no sound.
