I have an old harmony H803 with what looks to be P-90 style pickups in it. Recently the on/off switch crapped out on me. I decided i was going to replace it. I figured out why the switch didnt work. A few of the wires were not connected.
this is where my question comes in. the neck pickup has 3 wires and the bridge pickup has two. I am almost sure the white on both of them is hot. I also know that the bare is ground. (each pickup has these two wires) I have no idea what the extra red wire is for on the neck pickup. I would have helped if this was one of the wires that was attached to anything.
any thoughts?

It could be a coil tap, halfway along the coil windings. Not normally used, but if shunted to ground or the hot connected to it, the sound would be brighter and lower volume.
