I am going to be shielding my strat soon and would like to do some wiring modifications while I have the pickguard off. As of now my switching options are N, NM,M,M(front half of humbucker),Full Humbucker. I would like the option of adding the neck and humbucker and also just one half of the humbucker it I want. I guess what I am trying to do is have a HSS and a SSS with the neck pickup available. Can I do this without adding a switch. I would like to dial it in if possible. Here is a schematic of the factory setup. www.fender.com/support/diagrams/pdf_temp1/stratocaster/0134700_02C/SD0134700_02CPg2.pdf

phato, And here's the schematic for what you want: JohnH's Dual Sound SSS/HSS, with Blender(Scroll about half way down for the Humbucker version.) If you have any questions on it, you can ask either here, or in that thread, it's all good. Good luck! sumgai

Sumgai, thanks for the plug for the Dual sound design Please note that the Dual sound, which provides heaps of options for SSS and also HSS, does involve some extra switches, to provide the series and parallel options and the out of phase sounds. Its not too hard, but its not a "wiring 101" design either!
cheers
John

Its not too hard, but its not a "wiring 101" design either! True, but the beauty here is, nearly every modification we make, or suggest to others on this forum, is modular in nature - we can insert or remove any single item at will, with no ill effects at all. If p'caster doesn't want any extra switches, he needn't include those portions of your circuit, right? sumgai

Thanks for the reply. This stuff is way above my head. I dont understand all of the symbols in the diagram. I will look around to see if I can find a idiots explanation of what all the symbols mean. What I had in mind was maybe to replace the 5 way switch with a mega switch and use a blending pot to blend the pickups in and out. Im just not a fan of alot of switches. I would just like to add the neck in phase and split the humbucker. I guess I am maybe looking to get 7 sounds out of it. I was just surfing and saw what they call a dual wafer switch and was wondering if there was a way to reconfigure the wiring without add any switches. Like make the middle a master tone and use the other to cancel out half of the humbucker. I dont know. Just asking questions I guess.

Thanks...I will check it out. Sorry for the late reply. Ive been really busy and havent been able to get back on. BTW...Ive been playing aroung with a little tune called Stevies Blues by Tommy Emmanuel. Take a look at it on You Tube if you like playing neat little blues tunes. Its a really good improv tune.
