hey guys, Im new, I have wired a little bit, but am by no means an expert... Anyhow, I had a guitar shop install my EMGs when I got them (81 bridge and 89 neck) and discovered a few years later that they installed them in the wrong positions, went to switch them at 2 in the morning and stupidly cut my leads (quick connect wasnt installed on my used 89 and I couldnt fit connector through the body on my 81 because I have a les paul copy) which was a big mistake, also cutting my 89's lead wire about 2 inches or so from the pup. I made some dumb mistakes during this process, but anyway here is the real pita, emgs have pretty compound wire leads, my 89 has 5 tiny wires plus sheild and then the red cable totaling 7 leads, most of which are so small my stripper wont touch them. Can I save this 89? I think it might be 26ga wiring , is it worth it to buy strippers and wire just to lengthen these so that I can actually wire them back in? Im thinking of just spending 80 bucks on a set of guitarheads actives, I hear that they are completely comparable to emgs and I really don't need to coiltap all that bad, it just sounded cool and was at the time cheaper for me to do than an 85 (cause they had an 89 used). Opinions as well as regular knowledge all apply here so fire away.
