I read an article on replacing the pick-up selector with 3 separate toggle switches that offer the option of phase shifting as well as pick up selection. I'm interested in retro fitting my guitar with this, but I would also like to use concentric pots in order to control the volume and tone for each pick-up individually much like I can do with my Les Paul. Is this possible? If so I'd like to know where i can find wiring diagrams that would be useful. I've found several diagrams on wiring the toggles for the phase shifting, but literature on the concentric pots has been relatively elusive. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It is entirely possible, but I don't see how a volume and tone on each pup will help. Concentric pots are 2 pots in the space of one. Each deck is wired like an individual pot, so any schematic would probably just show 2 pots instead of a stacked one. www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/I-3479.html has pictures that may/will make more sense than any explanation I could offer.

So I suppose my next question would be: Would I wire the pick-up to the toggle switch before the pots or vise versa?

Yes. You already have the answer from the first quote. "........much like I can do with my Les Paul....." Wire each pickup to its respective volume and tone pot (that there concentric shaft dual pot) just as it's done in the LP for each pickup, and then connect the output of each volume pot (whether normal or reversed LP style) to each selector switch. In your case, the volume and tone pots just happen to be concentric. Here's another source for pots; www.has-sound.com/parts.htm#PotsCaveat: If your pickups have a single conductor shielded cable from each, electrical out of phase will cause issues with the overall shielding. If you're talking about Strat-type pickups (two wire, non-shielded), things will be ok. Bear in mind that parallel out of phase is weak and less than interesting. You might want to try half out of phase where each pickup so selected is coupled in thru a series capacitor (this is not used in parallel in phase). And, series out of phase IS interesting. I like this scheme a lot; guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=schem&action=display&thread=1153172741...no toggles required, does series and parallel out of phase. I like this one a WHOLE LOT, but then, I'm somewhat biased towards it..... guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=schem&action=display&thread=1186634210
