Very informitive forum, thank you all for what you have created.
I have a question about tracing the cause of hum/buzz.Is there a standard path or checklist that should be followed?
I myself usally start with the multimeter, checking all the grounds, making sure all are connected. Then check the hot. If all is good I start at the jack, and working my back I check all the joints resoldering each as I go along. Many times I've lost a lot of hum just from fixing a cold solder joint.
I seem to spend a lot of time with the dreaded "touch strings, hum stops" issue and I want to see if there's a better format to follow.
