HI guys, maybe an obvious question but for a Black finished brige should the finish be removed at the grounding wire location or is the finish conductive?
Thanks.
Didn't removed it, and gear is humming when string are not touched and the tone pot has practically no effect on its range.
Thanks. Jerry

I dunno. What does your digital volt meter tell you?

Here's a guitar I have that has a painted bridge: It's made in China so it's probably lead paint. Anyway, I tried at fist to remove the paint at the points where the strings contact the bridge but this didn't seem to work very well. My solution was to remove the paint at the flat part of the bridge and then put 2 bare #14 wires in there. (see photo) Anything else just didn't work as effectively.
