Hello.
I'm in the process of doing the QTB/star grounding thing and had a couple of questions.
1. I could not get the ring connector to fit under one of the pots. Well, it fit around the pot, but the post on the pot would not go through the pickguard far enough to attach the nut. I just attached a wire from the .33uf, 400V capacitor to a washer instead and placed it between the pot and pickguard. Will this work?
2. Also, for the star grouding, I just twisted all the ground wires together and soldered them. Is this a bad idea?
3. On one of the tone pots I have an Orange Drop cap where one end of the cap is attached to a pot terminal the and other end is soldered on the back of the pot. Should I attach the leg that is soldered to the back of the pot to the star ground instead?
Thanks.

Hi Rad-
1) A washer should work fine, provided it's a metal one, and assuming it is making good contact with the shielding under the pickguard.
2) "Doin' the Twist" will work ok, just make sure you put some electrical tape around the soldered connection to keep it from touching the shielding upstream of your capacitor. Not the neatest wiring method, but functional.
3) Yes.
Good luck with your mod!

I insulated the star ground and had it tucked away neatly so the pickguard set back in place very smoothly. But... I forgot to run the ground from the Orange Drop cap to the star ground. Maybe I'll do the star ground now with a ring. Thanks again for your help.
