Is there a difference between using single wire instead of shielded cable from a pickup?
I just bought a set of Lace Sensor Hot Gold Duallys (which look like humbuckers but each pair actually contains two single coils) and I find it odd that the wiring on each set (4 wires from the two coils and 2 wires from the two pickup chassis) is not inside a shielded cable. The ground wire connected to each pickup chassis is regular 24 or 25 guage wire. I know that Lace Sensors have shielding around each coil for low noise performance, and of course shielding the pickup cavity with copper foil is important as well, but wouldn't it be better to change the single strand wiring to shielded cable?

Petros-
Hello and Welcome! If you are doing a shielding job along with this (or if the guitar in question is already well shielded), the wires will be wholly contained within the shielding, so the use of a shielded cable would be redundant.

Thank you, newey. You just saved me an unnecessary re-wiring job.
