[glow=red,2,300] My son just bought an Ibanez with and Ibanez (similar to Floyd Rose-his first) bridge. I was working on my guitars and he decided to put new strings on his. He was told 9's were on it, so I gave him a set of Super Slinky's.
He took his time and followed my manual, but when he tuned up, man that bridge was jacked up. I laughed, but he didn't think it was funny, going from very low action to about 1/2 inch. He was ticked and knew he would have take it to Richmond (60 miles) to have it fixed.
After settling down, I showed him how to adjust the spring claw screws and flatten everything out.
Then, suddenly, dad did know something and so he brought me his LTD M-10 that he's been using these extra heavy strings on and the action was really high. He told he tried to lower it but got these terrible string buzzes. So I dropped the bridge down and gave the truss rod a crank and showed him how to make those adjustments. I also told him that the neck will move a little more in the next few days so not to be alarmed.
I got a thanks dad, and told him that will be $50 for the lesson and $50 for the adjustments.
As usual, I put iton his tab.
It's nice to sit down side by side and work on something we both have a passion for.
