How about using a Dremel™ to put a notch or a slot in it so that it can be turned with a socket or a screwdriver, etc ?

get some epoxy and glue the closest allen wrench you can fit in the hole of the nut. Careful not to get any on the surounding surfaces and dont get any on the truss rod end if it is visible through the adjustment nut. Wait for it to completly dry. And work it out slowly should work. Good luck tell us how it went. Peace Damian

Wait that was the type with an allen wrench adjustment wasnt it? If it is more like a bolt end the procedure would be a little different. Also this only works if this has the style of nut you can replace. Damian

yes, it did have an allen head, but grampa stripped it out attempting to adjust it. i think he tried to tighten it too much.i hope it comes out cause i'm nowhere near ready to remove and replace a fretboard.

d34th4uallThe important thing is that you tried. You took a chance. I devised a method (and wired a guitar) for litearally getting 94 sounds from a 3 humbucker guitar www.1728.com/guitar3.htmRecently, I felt that none of the possible sounds were that overwhelmingly different from anything I hadn't already discovered. So, I removed the fancy "94 sound" switching arrangement and installed a more conventional switching system. Yes, it was a lot of work installing it and then installing a new system but at least I gave it a try. Consider yourself a "GuitarNut".

Very true Wolf. I think that is the fun of doing it yourself. So much risk, life is to short not to just f it and give it a go. Unless it a priceless colectible guitar!! Peace Damian

yeah, i chalk it up to experience. it wasn't like it really beat it up anymore than grampa did(hahaha).we used the oppurtunity to remove the fretboard as well.why worry bout breaking it more if its already pretty much ruined.that proved easier than we thought. at least we didn't have to try it on something we didn't want to break. later

i think i'm gonna get him a new guitar altogether. the body is pretty messed up, and i'm not sure putting a new neck on will even work. aparantly the original neck was broke by one of my cousins.whoever replaced it tore the body up doing the job.to my limited recollection, acoustic guitars don't normally have a bolt-on neck.
