I got lace sensors, I love the neck and middle positions. I hear alot of people having probs with noise and hum from other/older strat pickups, but all i get is string sound.
I changed the bridge pick-up for a seymour duncan single coil hotrail, but i couldnt tell the difference difference.
The hotrail is meant to be thicker/chunkier. I suspect the guy who installed it for me put something else in. Something like seymour duncan vintage strat. Ill put lace sensor back in one day.
Apparently you can put the lace sensors closer tho the strings as they dont create string pull.
They are great because dont get no hum.

Lace Sensors came stock with my '98 Jeff Beck Strat. When I bought it, I had every intention of swapping pickups (I love the huge neck and LSR roller nut) but it took me a few years to do it! There are qualities about the Laces that I like (especially clean) but ultimately they just seemed like they were lacking "something" to my taste.
There are a lot of guitar sounds that I love to hear other players use, but don't like for my own sound; I guess the Laces I've tried would qualify...

Hey happyguy.
My hotrail pickup has two rails that have a split in the middle of each rail. I found pics of hotrails that did not have the split in the middle.
The Seymour Duncan rail style pickups with splits in the middle of the rails are supposed to be called "Vintage Rails" and have lower output.
Does your Hotail have splits in the middle of each rail?

Ok this is an old(ish) thread but i want to know... has anybody wired lace sensors in series?? Only Im changing the pickups in an old guitar and I was thinking silver laces with a humbucker at the bridge, probably seymour duncan. Heres what they say: Genuine Fender Lace Sensor pickup for Strat. Silver series delivers the tone of an overwound Strat pickup with more mid-range harmonics and bass. Expect more power and less noise with added sustain. So im thinking that its kinda like a noisless alternative to texas specials?? and in series should be pretty humbuckery (lol nice word). Anyways schools 2morow g2g to bed

Actually, it's Don's brother Mel (Melvin) who makes them (Don passed away, I believe). From what I've read on other boards, Mel is an electronics genius (you can google his name and find several patents), and before he could finish the final design for the pickups, his brother stole the idea/schematics/prototypes and sold them to Fender. I guess there was a big lawsuit, which I think Mel won and was able to start APC (Adder Plus Corporation). So accordingly, Lace is not his final design, but APCs are. There is a pickup shootout in the Guitar Player April 1994 issue that includes APCs and Lace. There is hardly anything on the web about them. Here are a few useful links: www.adderplus.com Not much here. Don’t bother e-mailing, it won’t get answered. www.harmony-central.com A couple of reviews in the pickup section. www.jcfonline.com The Jackson-Charvel forum. I don’t own a Jackson, but I joined when I found out they talk about APCs here. They actually did a huge group order. I originally stumbled upon them when looking through Harmony-Central for some new pups. Adder Plus was the first entry, I saw a good review, found their site and saw that they were actually located about 20 minutes away from me. I decided I wanted to check out a local company, called Mel (he personally answers the phone) and the rest is history. The pickups are handmade, and are more expensive than mass-produced brands, but still worth it to me. Mel does most of the work himself, so about a year ago when I first started ordering them, they took about 2 or 3 months to finally arrive. Thankfully, Mel has help now. I placed my last order about two weeks ago and Mel had them shipped last Wednesday.

I can confirm this reply. Melvin and Don are my uncles. What marmora wrote is all true. My mother Dorothy, is Don's twin and Mel's older sister. All have passed away. Don had 5 children all toll, Mel 4.

Ken - Welcome to the NutzHouse. ;D And I'm not certain, but reviving a thread over five years old has to be some kind of record. So, now that you're here, you can't just leave the story like this. Who runs APC now? Are you in the business? What insights or anecdotes can you share with us? Inquiring minds want to know... Happy Trails Cynical One

I'm not certain, but reviving a thread over five years old has to be some kind of record. Indeed! 61½ months - that's a new record. The previous title holder was chuck, at something like 48 months, give or take a few weeks..... IIRC And Ken: Hi, and to the NutzHouse! sumgai

no noise, low string pull so you can crank them right up under the strings without experiencing stratitus have a silver in the neck of my main strat, gold in the middle of the blue partscaster, and will have a total of 5 (out of 6 positions) in two of the three partscasters i'm working on currently
i love em!
