I've got on the way.
I am looking for chimey treble and good Dimarzio mids and bass.

Are those new? I can't say I've heard of them.

No, they're not new, it's from 200x, the year Steve Vai released "The Ultra Zone". DiMarzio says that it was built as a counterpart of Evolution, i.e. that Breed has a warmer (and slightly colder) output than Evo.
Chimey treble, wix ? I'd suggest the Evo itself.
.. And IMHO when choosing pups, we should think about our purpose (good crunch? OD? DS? Blues? Jazz? Metal?) --> pickup character, not EQ-shape (i.e. you can buy an EQ if thinking about EQ).

thanks Bam for the info.
I have an EVO in the guitar that I am looking to put the Breed into. The EVO in this guitar has too much uppper mid compression. I am looking forward to the Breed's softer top.
It is one of the few Dimarzio's I haven't tried.
As I do understand your comment at the end of your post, I do have to disagree with it. Each pickup has its own strong frequency points. If I were talking to a newbie, I would try to fashion the description in general terms as a genre of music, but there are about 15 pickups between Dimarzio and Duncan that you can describe as rock or metal pickups, but they are all eq'd differently.
All respect given to the Mod.

Well, the Breed is in one of my Jackson's now.
Sounds great, it gave me the chimey treble I was looking for.
It is a bit SD Invader like with the strong bottom end.
I am happy so far, but as they say, wait a few months.
Thanks all for the help.
EDIT: for all interested there is a new EVO, the EVO II.
Dimarzio claims it has little less power than the EVO, and is a little bit better balanced. All good pickups, IMO.

oh, out aready (the evo2) ? I'm a bit skeptic about it, i.e. "low power and better balance" somehow sounds like an old-school PAF.. well, who knows ?
