I want to give back since i've learned so much here... was wondering if there was any interest in some graphic design for a low-bandwidth logo?

bd, Welllllll........... yes................... But where would we put it? Seriously, this is a free Forum board, which doesn't give the Administrator a lot of options as to dressing up the place. Perhaps in the next version (coming soon, so they say) I'll be able to add new smilie icons. If that comes to pass, I'll be tapping you for some new additions to the smilie bar. And thanks for the kind thoughts about what we're trying to do here. sumgai

It's been awhile since I've used proboards, but couldn't you put it up there where the link that says "The Original GuitarNuts site, where this community was born!" is?

Well either way i'd be more than happy to work on any graphics or help you find and setup a webhost (i just got a deal on a year of hosting for $5 lol) or even setup a messageboard. I have my own messageboard thats pretty big so i'm pretty familiar with everything ;D
This place rocks!

bd, I would have moved this thing a long time ago, but for one impediment...... I can't do a personal backup to my machine! That's the way that ProBoards keeps customers (and believe me, some of them do pay, big time!), they keep all the data to themselves. I almost need a screen-scraper, or perhaps a spider-bot, that might fetch what I need, and store it all to my 'puter, I dunno. It'd be a damned shame to abandon all of the great info here, just 'cause ProBoards has a bee in it's bonnet. ~!~!~!~ cma, I had thought that the link to which you refer is text only. I just took a closer look, and it does appear that I could insert an image instead (or along side of)! I'm not exactly sure how it would all look, on everyone's machine, but what the hey, if there are complaints, I can always revert to business as usual, right? ~!~!~!~!~ bd, About that offer....... see my reply to cma above. I don't know if there's a size restriction, but I do know that it won't be stored on the ProBoards server, so it'll have to be small/quick to download from wherever you choose to store it. Other than that, please, by all means, have at it! ;D Thanks to all! sumgai

You can totally put a logo up on proboards. Check out my golf forum at www.thebacknine.co.nz. I put that picture up there. (drew it myself!) In the admin section under 'modify skins' there is a part for URL Logo. You just need an http code from an image hosting site.

sooty, Yes, that's what I found, and that's the reason I asked bd to go ahead and see what he could cook up. He sent me a few designs, we traded ideas, and so far, the last I heard, the ball is in his court......... sumgai

I suppose if there's a trademark infringement question, we could always stick a bag over his head...

quarry, Put a bag over which head? It'd need to be both of 'em, they're both trademarked! ;D Nice job, I love it, but the obvious roots will probably bite us in the butt, were we to adopt it. The last I heard from boostdemon was two days after the above conversation....... perhaps I somehow irrigated him, he hasn't logged in since. OK, the floor's open, who want's to take a swing at coming up with something that depicts what we're all about here? ............ sumgai

c1, Any chance that headstock shape could be copyrighted/trademarked? (After all, there is a difference between necessary harm and intentional harm..... ) Nice job! I think I'd make it tiny bit more simple though, I'd put on just one pickup, in the center (and take off the selector switch). That way it's still obvious, but then if we install a Strat-style Tremo'Leo bridge, the handlebar will be more easily discerned. (Hey, don't look at me like that - why do you think they made me the chief Nut around here? ;D) Next, it's current pose would take up a lot of vertical page space, so it should rotate about 80° to the right. A slight slant, like if it were in the playing position, would be more cool than simply straight out to the right, don't you think? Having done that, what would it look like to put our name on the fret board, in lieu of the dot markers? sumgai

Hmmm....let me dink with it a little and see what I can do. Guess flattening the image wasn't such a prudent idea in retrospect...
Actually, I toyed with the idea of adding more switches and knobs...
Not sure on the headstock...just pulled an obscure image off the net...I can modify it so we can sue them...
Give me a few days on this...I played hooky from the taxes to do this one...
Stay tuned...

OK, screw the taxes... The headstock is modified...no one will sue us over this one... I trimmed the bridge pickup down so it looks less conspicuous. I added the Guitar Nuts 2 text to the neck and headstock. The image is rotated 15 degrees from horizontal. Any more the that and it took up too much vertical real estate. Image size is 62.27 KB - 450px X 196px EDIT:In fixing this image I inadvertently wiped it off of imageshack...this one is close, if you tilt it accordingly......but don't ask a guitar nut to take off a pickup or selector switch... ...and don't ask a bass player to add a tremolo... Hope you like it... Happy Trails Cynical1

All, As you can see, cynical1 has hit the jackpot! ;D c1, The transition from the board's background (0xffcc99) to white is a bit abrupt, I'm sure you'll agree. Do you think you can make it fade from one to the other? While it sits on this thread, that fading will look "funny", but I've linked directly to your imageshack image, so the change should be evident right away. That way you can experiment to your heart's content! (But you'd need to re-load the page, for sure.) All (redux), The size is fine for me, on my 1000+px (vertical) monitor. If anyone thinks the image takes up too much screen real estate, or if it loads too slowly (meaning that the file size is too large), let us know as ASAP as possible. Thanks one and all for playing this week's contest! ;D sumgai

lpf3, Well, I wasn't gonna look a gift image in the mouth! ;D c1, Free is good. I was thinking that you were monkeying with the image, and that it'd be back, but just in case imageshack was playing games with the innerweb....... I snagged a copy (the older, larger one), and posted it to my server. Too bad I can't program in a "fail-over" so that if one image server goes down, another could take over. And thanks again!!! sumgai
