I just picked a MIM Tele at a super price, but the pups are very low output and the neck sound is really muddy. I am thinking of replacing both pups with either Noiseless Vintage or Texas Specials. One other possibility would be DiMarzio vintage or noiseless. Anybody have any experience with any of these? Thanks!

I have a set of Texas Specials on a squier I own. they are NOT voiced like typical Tele pups, more P90ish. I'm now finding them a bit harsh sounding. I have the TexMex pickups on the MIM Nashville and I like these a lot better. The main difference seems to be the TexSpecs have staggered poles and the TexMex are flat (except the middle Strat pup). I have not tried them but have heard people trash the vintage noiseless,

I'm running the Texas Specials & like them a lot. I play a lot of 70s & garage type rock & like their bite.
You'll need to consider the kind of music you play before deciding on anything.
Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I play a variety of stuff, but mostly light to medium rock (whatever that is) and blues, mostly in a contemporary Christian format. I think I'll try the Texas Specials, the price is right and I too have heard some negative comments about the noiseless pups. Currently I'm using a PRS Santana SE and a Peavey Predator ssh, but I had to grab the Tele when it came by. New pups are not a priority right now since I have other axes to play, but I'll let you know what I end up with and how they sound. Thanks again for the help.
