i repotted pups for the first time last night. it went pretty well. im not going to get to test the sound for about two weeks, but im confident in my work. one question though. they are two wire humbuckers, would it have been possible of me to turn them into 4 wire? if so, where would i solder? also, with all of the left over wax, i made my girlfriend a candle. i pretty much had to cause she was mad at me for "doing some stupid gutiar $hit." but everything turned out fine, win-win.

-You'll have to unscrew the baseplate. Beneath that you'll see the main ground soldered to the plate itself and the other leads from each coil wired together. You'll have to find out which leads are which then go from there. If you have a DiMarzio, Duncan, etc.. you can get the color codes quite easily. I should add that this all depends on your p'up being a standard 'bucker, not something that's epoxy sealed similar to an EMG. But this is something that should have been done before you waxpotted the p'up.

-Yep, then if it's lacquered wire, you have to try to GENTLY scrape the lacquer off of the wires so they can be soldered. I should have went deeper into this in my first post, but I had to take off. He might get lucky and have a 'bucker that looks similar to this when diassembled. All you'd have to do here is find out which leads are the start and finish. -But if your p'up has wires similar to the Fender Noiseless ChrisK showed, you'd probably have better luck and less ehadaches just buying a new p'up. sounds like its all going to be fun. they are standard humbuckers. but as for the color codes, i have no clue. they are the stock that came on a hondo. they sounded terrible, so i decided to try potting just for the experience. but i decided that if they sound pretty good, and i wanna keep em. i would wanna do some coil tapping and phase switching.
