I was wondering what y'all store your spare picks in. Right now I have a bunch in the little baggies from the local Guitar Store, but I need a better way(and a cooler way ) to store them. I'm tired of having to comb the floor to find the picks I actually want to use, so I figured I would steal some of y'all's storeage ideas ;D

I keep them in the stash box to flick the seeds out of the way. ;D Course it will side track you when you go for a pick. Jon

Drill a hole in them and store them on a dogtag type chain.

My live storage is a Dunlop pickholder ($2 each) sticked behind the headstock. My home storage is a small kiddies' lunchbox. ;D ;D
I think Steve Vai's live storage type (4 picks sticking on the headstock's bottom edge) would be good, too .. but dunno how to do it.

The dunlop pickholders are great, unless you use any unconventionally-shaped picks.
Lots of artists just slap some double-sided adhesive somewhere on their axe... can't say how clean that is though!

picks annoy me. i rarely use them anymore. when i do, i keep them in my pocket or in my case. i just find it easier and more comfortable to use my fingers.

i keep em in a little seethru platic box that some screws came in. it has since been adorned with a HELLO KITTY sticker that a friend (female, obviously) gave me. now if THAT ain't cool, i might as well give up playing git-fiddle!

One of the coolest gifts I've seen for guitar players, but I've never bought one (yet), is at www.gruhn.com/. You can get a keychain that has a little pick shaped leather pouch, holds like 5 picks or something. Only costs five bucks or something for two of them. Also, if your ever in Nashville, a stop at their store should be right at the top of the list along with the orginal Sun Records Studio, as far as I'm concerned. Great place to buy a vintage guitar. (I've only been there once, but didn't get to buy anything.)

Cooool..... Keep 'em in my pocket on stage and in a decorative box from Istambul (gift from Spanish girlfriend) at home. It sits next to the stash box, just as distracting......LOL

Thanks for the ideas fellas, I think I'll just store them in an empty cigar box, that way I won't lose them and they'll smell great too ;D

That's why God invented pockets. I always have a handful of pics in my pocket, always, you never know when a guitar might show up.

Me too, but I've been wanting one of those dunlop keychain pick holders for awhile now. None of my local shops carry the, and I haven't brought anything online in awhile so I'm still without one. It's some what embarrasing to give the Drive Thru person a guitar pick rather than a dime

I have so many picks right now I don't know what to do with half of them. All different sizes and thicknesses too. Right now, they'll all in a leather pouch. It looks like it would be a make-up pouch but since it's soft black leather, who cares. I always have one in my wallet too.

If you like headstock-placement for your spare picks, I recommend Dunlop pickholders. Only $2 each, just stick'em behind or in front of the headstock.

There has been a lot of stuff going on in this thread, so I just felt compelled to give you my way of having a pick handy just in case I drop one. I'm sure that some where on the pickguard you will find a place to gently push three or four picks under it, I use the bottom, and they are right at my fingertips. If you happen to play an instrument that has no pickguard the sorrounds of your pickups is another option. I am pretty pickey about the finish of my guitars and that is the only reason I don't use a Dunlop(tm) pickholder. They are a GREAT idea for someone that is not as pickey as myself.........No pun intended. ;D I use a Sure(tm) UHF cordless model #PGX14 and attach the transmitter to my strap in the back. Slip two or three under the clip and it's off to the races. This is another handy place to keep a few stashed and they ARE'NT visible.

Also, get one of those rubber pickholders that snap around your mic stand. They're about 6 or 8 inches long. Once it's snapped around you just slip the spare picks between the closed slot - which has a slightly elevated edge. Then when you drop a pick you can quickly grab one from in front of you!
Rock on!

Altoids mints box. Fits in your pocket or case. That is a good idea, and they will always be "minty fresh"

yeah, good idea ;D but my only Altoid box still has some mints inside .. need to wait a bit ..
btw, trey and stratlover, if you're afraid of the pickholder destroying your finish, just rip off the original 3M double sided tape and replace it with some cheapo double sided tape or no-stick adhesive.
(but everyone has their own prefs, right ?)
