Holy cow, I bought the guitar like I was told, "on its unplugged tone and sustain" That part was great. Then I got home and plugged it in and couldnt believe the pups on it. Dont get me wrong the guitar is pretty sweet, great sustain, 24 frets, almost hollow body like tone when unplugged due to strange paulownia wood body. (very soft). Anyways I swapped the pups out of an SG but unfortunately for me they were not spaced the same... They did however Greatly improve the sound over stock pups. Actually nothing I own has ever had such funny/light/horrible sounding pickups, not even cheapo knockoffs. Well I got tired of the wrong spaced pups pretty fast, blues bends got louder instead of quieter, interesting effect but not my cup-o-T. So when I pulled the SG pups I put in a super hot pickup in bridge and unfortunately I gave the stock Vendetta Pup in the neck, well long story but Im off to the basement in just a moment to pull those bad boys and give another set a try. Luckily I just super loosen the strings with a device I made and I dont have to restring it constantly to pop a new set of pups in. So thats my opinion on Dean Vendetta Pickups. Neck 9.2k Bridge 13.3k sound like clear single coils. But hey the guitar itself is likely where the money was really spent, so buy strum one for the hell of it, BUT without plugging in, and you too might fall for it, just pop your desired pickups in and bam. The wood has a serious mid/bass tone and tons of sustain.
Thanks and let me know if you know of a pickups that may compliment such a guitar. I want something I can easily pinch harmonic on for a bridge and a buttery neck so the blend will compliment itself.
