I want to replace the stock p/ups in a Stagg Lp with something a bit better (not high output) but at a reasonable cost. Can anyone suggest which brands to look at.I'm in the UK so shipping costs would have to be considered.Don't want Duncan or Dimarzio, only because of the cost, but if someone has a set for sale at a sensible price i would be interested.

Kent Armstrong pickups have proved to be good pickups for a reasonable cost- they can be be found here in the UK at www.wdmusic.co.uk/category/Electronics/Kent_Armstrong™_PickupsThe prices of these are rising very slightly, but I have had four humbucker from them, which have been very good. If even they are a bit pricey, I have seen Wilkinson pickups for even better prices- I have not used them myself, but I've heard good things about them so may do so in the future. The range can be seen at www.jhs.co.uk/wilkinson.html. I'm also interested in Artec pickups- again, I have not tried any of these, but they have a good looking range, and a few models can be found very cheap brand new on ebay. www.artecsound.com/pickups/index.html has the details, and the UK distributor is FCN Music, who I will contact as to where else these pickups can be bought. I have their details form Artec already, so if you want to find out about them, the contacts are: FCN Music Melody House Farningham Road Crowborough East Sussex TN6 2JJ United Kingdom Telephone: 01892 603730 Fax: 01892 613220 Email: info@fcnmusic.co.uk I love trying out different pickups, hope you have fun too, Best, Andy

I would second the recommendation on the Kent Armstrong pickups.
They seem a bit pricey in the UK, but you might try eBay. I picked up an HR1RCCLOSE for $30.00US (which is probably 15-16 Pounds) and it was new in the box.
Happy Trails
