Hey guys...
I want to learn "Eugenes bag of tricks"
You know: the guitar duel from the movie Crossroads? I know its based on Paganinis 5th Caprice, but can some of you gentleman out there who are blessed in theory and scale knowledge give me some tips?
What scales should I learn?...etc.

I didn't now Brittney Spears played guitar ... This is a pretty good video of a kid playing it which shows his left hand on the fretboard, but doesn't show his picking. He seems to have it down pretty good. www.mikesguitarsite.co.uk/tabs/steve_vai/crossroads.phpAnd some tabs for the solo ...

Thanks JK...
Yes, I have seen some clips of guys playing that piece. I do, as well have the tabs to practice from. I was just wondering if anyone knew which scales were being played so I could try and learn the whole scale instead of bits and pieces. Music theory bogs my mind!!!...Im a basic pentatonic kind a' guy. ;D ;D ;D

As did Stevie Ray Vaughan ... and B.B. King ... and Buddy Guy ... and ... But I digress, DeepBlue, check this page out. Has a ton of soloing theory info. If you scroll down to the bottom, he also explains and gives tabs for the "Eugene's" solo. He says it's based on "Paganini's 5th Caprice", which, looking at some of the tabs seems to be based on a series of arpeggios. Maybe someone else could figure out what the key is, since the author doesn't really say. The whole page has good info on it though. Thanks for the input guys.
I have tried a few practice runs.I just have to get my hands/fingers used to moving in a way in which they arent accustom.
Its not sounding too bad though I must say!

Paganini was an absolute psycho on violin. Try learning all the caprices, and you will never be intimidated by a sweep arpeggio again!
