First bass built from scratch, Maple/walnut/maple neck into mahogany/zebrano body, wenge fretboard, GFS jazz bass pickups. Great meaty bottom end and a good clear top end. Very happy with th ebuild and the tone, but could have been a bit bolder on the neck which goes a little chunky after the 9th fret.

Beautiful job flateric. I've been dreaming up quite a similar design, only opposite (colour-wise) for the body. Just a case of getting the tools - summer project maybe...

To quote Bill Shatner (from "The Giant Spider Invasion"): That's slicker than a gnats A$$!

Wow, thanks guys! She had a real hard workout tonight in the LOUD band I play in and she sounded really great and easy on the hands. After tweaking the setup last night, filing the nut, a bit more of a fret polish and bridge saddle adjustments I've got a really slick action now. Really pleased as this is the first time I've put together a neck, fretboard and fretted from scratch - and she plays real sweet. great sustain too with the neck-thru - I really think you can't beat it for meaty bass tone. Sumgai: I'd love to build for others once i'm satisfied my finishing skills are up to it...

♭eric, Akshully, that's one area that I'd ask the builder to stop short at. I've got a 25 year veteran nitro guy who'll do what I want, for a price I like, so.........

Oh oh oh she is a beauty! Good job! I'm getting frustrated, cos my project(s) ain't going forward and other people show off with their magnificient projects here! ;D Was the fretting as hard as it is said to be or is it just the nerves and taking proper time? I have one nasty neck waiting refretting... frets are not worn, it's quite new... screwed up at the factory in the first place, but... got it cheap! But oh my, I really like the woods... I HAVE TO make some progress myself after the christmas... Thanks for the inspiration eric! Dark

I was really worried about the fretting, never having radiussed or fretted a fingerboard before, but it was actually really straightforward, I just checked the saw cuts were deep enough then hammered them firmly home using a hammer with a few layers of old T-shirt wrapped round the end. Bed in each edge first then tap alternately towards the middle and they go in a treat. I must say that after a few loud gigs behind us, the tone is all i could have asked for. I've had a couple of people come up afterwards complimenting the tone and asking what make it was. I told them it was a custom build commissioned from a local specialist company. ;D

From what i can see, it looks like a nice clean build. Nicely done. I really like the headstock.
Fret jobs can be frustrating to get perfect. What we use at the shop is a 25 pound bag of shot and a nice dead blow hammer. But if you got them in and your satisfied, it sounds like your set.
Again, nice build. Looks like a lot of fun.
