I thought this section might get more traction. But it is slow. Perhaps slow to launch is that there were differing opinions on the purpose: sound samples of wiring configs vs. samples of the "wiring artists" artistry. All of it works. Perhaps by showing your "talent" you expose too much of your inner soul, and you are shy, afeered of the jeers and judgments. (one of my favorite ads for a used guitar was -- " Reason for selling: Lack of Talent" He|| if that was the criteria I should purge the collection right now). All that said I will toss something in the air, hopefully to assist getting this locomotive chugging. Let me reach over to the "inexcusable" pile. soundclick.com/share?songid=6193470(SoundClick Link. I don't know if SC requires joining to listen. If so, no big deal to sign up for free). This is a piece in the direction of experiments I am exploring sampling loops (don't worry SG, public domain or purchased - no pantie wadding please), then following the current to find where the rhythm and riff takes the guitar. No, you genre purists won't like it. So? It does meet both criteria of wiring setting samples and expressions of the innermost and probably disturbed soul. Rune, Thanks for taking the guts by the horn..... I think. Is it just me, or is anyone else having the same experience as me? When I click Rune's link, I see three choices: "Play Lo-fi", "Play Hi-fi", and "Purchase". But those clever little bastards at SoundClick, they know better than I do as to what I want - no matter which button I click, I end up, guess where..... the "Purchase" page. In my day, we defined that as selling, not sharing. sumgai

I had a couple of friends test the link here, on the lo or hi-fi. It works by pulling up a Soundclick streaming player. Like most streaming players there is a latency at the front end as it loads enough to get started. Statisically, against the views, you are the only one reporting problems. Back to "is it just me".... not enough n to conduct a confidence interval, but ..... So no failures by others, and certainly no sales, and none expected. Knowing your Budda-like countenance, I am certain you are patient waiting for the streaming to start ....? Hell at our advanced wisdom we have all seen, but of course never personally experienced , latency. RW

Rune, Latency is MIDI's middle name! Yes, I can exhibit a modicum of patience while waiting for a player to "pop up", but only if the re-directed page happens to display some kind of message to that effect. Lacking said courtesy, I felt that waiting 15 seconds was long enough, and away I went. As for the clip itself, I took a notion to view the source code..... sigh. Double-damn sigh. Whatever format your sound clip was in, SoundClick converted it to an .swf file. Just for the record, I don't allow such files to run on any of my computers - too much risk of all the bad stuff. After 8 years and counting of no viruses or any other malware, I'm not gonna start now! But thanks for letting me know that it is me, I can sleep better tonight. ;D sumgai

Thats Shockwave's flash format. No problems with it. If you can see half of the sites around with music, you can listen to those files online. To have them played from the HD you need some Flash compatible player of some sort.

The track is very cool, I like that acid guitar. Maybe I would have made a darker backing track, something more underground, acid like the the lead guitar is, but anyway, cool atmo!

al, INCORRECT! ;D In the early days, Shockwave files used a proprietary format for encoding their scripts. Along about version 4 or so, they moved to javascript. Guess what? If I want to do so, I can write a malicious javascript that looks at the directory structure of every partition on your hard drive, and uploads from your machine to my server whatever I might want. You will not know this is happening, short of monitoring all open ports with something like NetWatcher. All javascript commands embedded within a Flash file execute without user intervention, nor even notice to the user - they just execute, and that's that. And if I can do this, what's to stop anyone else from doing it? Without a filter capable of reading every javascript command, and denying those that are privacy-invasive (yet allowing those that actually do something positive for my user experience), I can't allow any such hidden javascripts to run, period. Again, that's a bigger part of why I don't ever suffer mal-ware attacks.... I practice safe hex. Sadly, not everyone does. Sigh. sumgai

Gee SG, this was just for fun. Not trying to get you worked up, exorcisms are messy. I turned the pay for switch off. Now you should be able to see it as a MP3. I think to download though Soundclick may require registration. Thought this would be easier than all this. But as excited as you are this thing may just send you right on over, so let me reiterate I am not responsible for medical complications resulting from listening. Enjoy my man.

Well you are kind. Actually the "dark" is a purposeful contrast to the background that in other hands could have gone dangerously close to bouncy and perky. I had to bring in some snarl to kill off the Vanna White.

Runewalker- First , your demo came in as mp3 all along ,for me at least. No problems , I think Thank you - it's exactly what I needed to connect a sound with a name of a sound & a big help. BTW, of course I couldn't resist checkin' out some of the rest of the album.... some damn fine playin' ( I like the bluezy stuff the best) -lpf3

Runewalker -
Nice cut. I stuck around and listened to the other 23 cuts on your page.
A very nice cross-section. There really wasn't anything there I didn't like.
You pull some nice tones out of your guitars.
It was a very pleasant change of pace to hear songs. ;D (versus a display of epileptic speed guitar or an audio inventory of every effect the player owns...) Everything had an honest feel to it.
I'll keep an eye on your page to see what you put up next.
Thanks for sharing.

Cynical1 and lpf3: Yikes! I did not think about folks exploring all that other old stuff. Most of that was with the venerable '68 Les Paul, a Digitech RP200 and all in-line. But that obnoxious drum machine sound grates on my ears. The in-line sterilness bothers me. I have learned some better approaches to in-line recording since those were done. Thanks for the kindness. But those old demos don't really show much in the way of wiring options. They were pre GN2. If you explore that other stuff, just realize 1) they are demos, and 2) I use Soundclick as a method for exchanging ideas and concepts with the other Coot on the site, when we are collaborating on songs. So there are a bunch of rough sketches there, not finished pieces. A bunch are concept captures for later develoment. Have you ever noticed that later really never gets to now? The other Coot, Son'O'Sonny, also has some pieces up there. Unlike me, he can actually play. It was a very pleasant change of pace to hear songs. (versus a display of epileptic speed guitar or an audio inventory of every effect the player owns...) Everything had an honest feel to it. Well the reason there is no shredding is simple: no talent guitarist. If I could I would. Thanks again gents. RW

No problem. I've been making demos for over 20 years...and yes, I have the cheezy drum machine in the background too... It's like pops on an old vinyl album, after a time you ignore it and just listen to the music.
We all love mods. That's why we're here. But the intent is to make music with the instrument. Any jackass can use a hammer, but it takes a carpenter to build a house.
Keep playing what feels right and all will be right with the world...
Happy Trails

Great job Rune! I enjoyed the track quite a bit. Well the reason there is no shredding is simple: no talent guitarist. If I could I would. If that's what talent is...tell it to stay away from me! CMA
