I replaced selector switch on a early 90's Hamer California Import with a Fender brand 3-way switch..I originally wired it up using a Standard Tele schematic..since then I have tried different wiring schematics that I have seen for 3-way switch's ..As of now I have it wired according to Hamers schematic..Just wondering If it being a Fender 3-switch would make it difference In how i wired it..Im just wondering if the wiring in schematic is correct with using a Fender brand switch. It works and all..Ive had it wired that way for over a year or so. .Just wondering..

stratotak, As you've noticed, I've modified your post above to show your image, as you intended I'm sure. I've noticed lately a tendency, and this isn't personal, so don't get upset , that most image-hosting websites try to "make things easier" for users like you. They say "simply cut and paste this link to your page, and all will be well." IMHO, that would depend on one's definition of well. What you got from them, and pasted in, was a link to their generic home page, and a thumbnail of your full-sized image. That's not only deceitful on their part, it's also a waste of resources. As you can see if you do a View Source of this page, I modified your post to simply link straight to the full-sized image, and skipped the crapola that ImageShack wanted you to plaster all over our nice, pristine Forum. (And if you believe that, I've got...... ;D) Like I said, nothing personal, you certainly aren't the first to fall prey to their tactics, but I hope you'll remember this, and in the future, try to keep things clean when you post more images. All you really need to do is make sure that your link starts and ends with the IMAGE tags, not the URL tags. And fortunately for everyone concerned, ImageShack uses "aaabbbccc. th.jpg" to denote a thumnail - just strip out the two letters and extra period, and you have the correct address of the full-sized image. ~~~~~~~~~~ As for your question, I'd have to say, if it works, then what's to wonder about? Basically, the only difference between your guitar and a standard Tele is the lack of a tone control. Otherwise, the switch works the same, and all should come out just like one would expect. As you've been noticing for over a year now........ ;D HTH sumgai

Stratotak- What are the pickups and what value is the V pot? I'm assuming that this has 2 HBs w/ a 500K volume pot- if so, a 500K Tone pot is probably the way to go. As far as cap value, if you ask 5 people on this forum you'll probably get 6 different opinions! Use the search function and a search term like "what cap value" and you'll see that there is a lively discussion on this. Ultimately both the choice of pot and cap values are a matter of personal preference. Using a 250K pot with HBs will cut a bit of brightness vs. the 500K, but the cap value also figures into the equation as well.
