I'm sure it does, maybe insubstantially, but it does... by absorption, vibration feedback... it's not the same having a solidbody of copper or one of wood. As for "What is this ... Welcome Back, Kotter?", that was improper. You are so mean. -25 (hour by hour, one by one)

Therefore, please DO NOT smite momo in retaliation for any perceived attack on me. Thanks, DD

Is, not was. www.sbelectronics.com/corporate/new_about_us.html"SBE Inc., dba SB Electronics, designs and manufactures the most reliable Film Capacitor Products for today’s demanding applications. We have developed unique technology (patent pending) in pulse design and continue to introduce new technologies to support the Homeland Security, Electric Utility, Energy Efficient Lighting, Medical and Automotive/e-drive markets. Formerly a Sprague Electric company......While new technology is entering, we have not reduced our support of traditional products. We manufacture the well known Orange Drop® and 192P Pacer® Film Capacitor lines, both of which have reliably served the industry since 1959!" The history of SBE. Note that this history emphasizes the manufacturing (sub-contracting or not) side of capacitors rather than the design and marketing (the "generators and owners" of component specifications and brands). www.sbelectronics.com/corporate/new_history.html1992 SB Electronics purchases the 192P Pacer product line from Sprague Electric and returns the manufacturing to Barre, Vermont where it was originally designed. 1986 SB Electronics is formed by purchasing the Orange Drop® product line from Sprague Electric and the manufacturing facilities in Barre, Vermont. 1969 Sprague Electric purchases the capacitor operations from Rock of Ages Corp. and assumes direct ownership. The plant is referred to as the Sprague-Barre operation. 1959 The radial-lead Orange Drop® film capacitor product lines are introduced, as well as the Type 192P Pacer® axial-lead, polyester film line. 1953 Employment reaches 940 at the Barre plant as new products are introduced. Sprague Barre is one of the larger employers in the state of Vermont. 1946 The Rock of Ages Capacitor Division moves to its newly renovated location at 131 South Main Street. They continue to support Sprague as the radio industry booms. 1945 Sprague Electric Co. enters into a sub-contracting agreement with the Rock of Ages Corp., one of the world’s largest granite producers located in Barre, Vermont, to manufacture capacitors for them. Their work is to support the war efforts. [ This would be for mica capacitors.] 1926 Robert C. Sprague invents a paper dielectric capacitor at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts and the Sprague Electric Company is formed. Sprague/Vishay (well, Vishay/Sprague) still has a major distribution role for SBE capacitor products. This list comprises the major distribution companies of the, uh, planet. www.sbelectronics.com/sbelectronics_division/new_sprague_distributors.htmlFrom this page, additional info is further gleaned: " Brief HistorySB Electronics is a former Sprague Electric manufacturing plant. In 1986 SBE purchased the equipment and process specifications from Sprague to continue the manufacturing of high quality film capacitors. We remain located in the same building where we manufacture the Orange Drop® and 192P Pacer®. SB Electronics manufactures product for sale to the OEM market, these units are marked with our logo, SBE. We also continue to manufacture the Orange Drop® and 192P Pacer® for Sprague marked with their trademark symbol (ie. Orange Drop)." Thus proving the point that if components have identical specs and are made from identical materials with identical processes, they WILL sound identical, regardless of name. But if one wants their guitar to look reaaaaaally cool, it has to say "Orange Drop" on 'em. After all, the Orange Drop was made by the Rock of Ages......... ;D

"get a job" by Reverend Augustus Montague Toplady!?! I didn't know this. "Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, From Thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; Save from wrath and make me pure
Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone
Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to the cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; Wash me, Savior, or I die
While I draw this fleeting breath, When my eye-strings break in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee"

SHOCK! did I read shock? Sounds like a problem with the amp or possibly an audio interface that has power for condensers or something... Otherwise, noisy strat...par for the course, all the shielding things still apply...if you don't want do a full number on it, shielded cable throughout can be almost as beneficial, but often harder to do anyway... If you are getting any kind of shock, it could be a serious problem and a guitar can be a killer...the power can go right through the heart! Unless, you have a nylon carpet with polyester shirt and plastic soled shoes and you have a tendency to shuffle about as you play...if that is the case...possibly static pete

Thank you 4real 4 the reply (sorry, that's DD842 ver 2.0 influence, and now that I'm aware of it, another -25 goes to him)it's 2nd hand, no warranty I experienced the shocks only earlier today. It was a faulty outlet to double outlet extension into which i used to plug my amp. I removed it and the shocks are gone. However all the other issues remain, the noise, ground touching clicks etc. I'm gonna ATB (Abate the Beast) and see if it works for me. If anybody have some other ideas what could the causes be (else of "just your local radio station"), let me know, it'll take me a week to gather all the components to QtB. for the distance between the picks and strings i tried to lower picks under the guard but it's no use generally the first is leveled with the pickguard and the other two follow fender standard to mach the distance to the wires. Thank you all guys! follow in the post before i mentioned the clicks persists but I lied, they are gone with the shocks, only the noise that can be quieted orienting is still present as for my playing environment, it's actually very electromagnetically noisy, therefore I hope QtB will help at least a little bit. as for the shielding, I'm planing things in big.

I've known of the Rock of Ages Song, but hadn't known of the Rock of Ages granite company producing Orange Drops for Sprague. Well, I DO learn something every day.... The name "Rock of Ages" likely came from granite being a "rock of ages" (or the founder(s) were religious). Thanks for the opportunity to learn the actual history of the Orange Drop.

As long as you think you can offend me, and think I wont reply to your offenses, well, you're wrong.
I can stand to jokes, but expect the same from those who make them.
There was no references to drugs, and if someone do strange posts it's because he must have been reading yours.
If you don't like others going off topic and or jokes, then be exemplar.
Be serious.
If you think my ways ruin the reputation of the site or forum or offends you and the others, you could have said that earlier, and save me from your big ego being directed the wrong way.
I appreciated the help of you all, and pointed this in every response to your helpful replays.
Once again thank you all, I respect your experience and devotion to this board, and a big bow and sorry to all those who I may have offended, especially to DD842 ver 2.0 and ChrisK, and be sure that if someone asks me about some el. guitar problem, I'll promptly indicate him GuitarNuts board where the best support guys can be found.
Farewell

Unfortunately, momo decided to post my Private Message to him. I am not responsible for him doing so, but apologize just the same. With respect to references to drugs: Orange Drop caps are always to prefer, no matter what you use them for, tone control or as earrings, they are always the coooolest...! All others are... unseaworthiness! I'm not high and I'm definitely not listening to Jimi while writING THIS, OK!?! ... then it just gets weird(er) ... Note: the color of some portions of text of this peculiar post has been changed to red so you can see it more easily. I honestly thought he was on something. With respect to smiting, as anyone who knows me is well aware, my view is that there should be NO SMITING on GN2 ( guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=coffee&action=display&thread=472 ) A view that I believe is shared by many ... That view may indeed be shared by momo, as he never did smite anyone - but he made several references to it (see below), which I object to and let him know Privately. Thank you 4real 4 the reply (sorry, that's DD842 ver 2.0 influence, and now that I'm aware of it, another -25 goes to him)... and ... ... and ... Hi all, momo is so twisted that he'll add -10 to DD842 ver 2.0 for every smite received, you choose that's only my twisted humor, againare those wires in my strat silver plated?
I bought kapton teflon silver plated OF copper wires to replace them, should I keep the old? Note: I have bolded what I viewed as a further degradation of intelligent content in the thread. He was hopefully kidding about the wire, but I did not see any reason to respond to his further peculiar questions at that time ... I have already stated in a previous post that I assume his comments are the result of a twisted sense of humour, which he carried on with ... so, it was intended as a joke, I guess ... maybe. But I didn't like it so I took him out behind the barn and told him so. I even posted a light-hearted response to his "Rock of Ages" things so that he might know that all is well out in public. For that matter, all was well in Private too - it was intended to be a private communication to him that would not publicly embarass him or anything. That is, until he decided to post my PM. Oh well. I disagree with his statement that I should have aired my dirty laundry here on the board, nor should he have posted my PM. However, he may not have known that PMs can only be seen by the recipient, and - having read my own message, I can see how he may have taken it to be far harsher than was intended. Farewell, momo - but you didn't have to leave. Actually, you are welcome to come back anytime, but let's try to keep things on track and on a somewhat more professional, or at least comprehensible, level, okay? DD EDIT: P.S. Momo, I probably over-reacted, and you probably did too. What do you say you come back as momojinrobot2 and we start over?

I've a similar problem with the concrete basement slab in a house with 2-prong wiring. I've grounded this socket best I could but electronics have a tough life here, and I still feel the tingle.
Once I fixed my shielding issues on my instruments thanks to John Atchley, the alien transmissions thru my amp weren't as loud, but 'they're still here'. ;D
