Hi all. You may remember I recently rewired my strat to an all-series configuration, using a 3-way switch for the bridge and neck pickups, and a separate toggle for the middle. Well I've just figured out a way to add a series/parallel switch to the setup, giving back the parallel tones. This design needs two extra switches adding to the pickguard, but that's simple enough. SW1 is a tele-style 3-way switch, controlling the neck and bridge pickups. SW3 switches the middle pickup on or off. SW2 is shown as a 4PDT, switching the whole guitar between series and parallel wiring. However, if you wanted, you could use two DPDTs instead (shown by the split between the two halves of the switch). The left half would control series/parallel for the neck and bridge combination, and the right half would control series/parallel for the middle when it was added in. I'm not sure whether this would detract from the operation though- as it is, the pickup combinations remain the same, but either series or parallel combinations depending on SW2. Using two switches might make it a bit awkward to decipher the settings. I like the way my series strat operates with the 3-way switch setup (no need for precision compared with a 5-way switch) and I think adding a single series/parallel switch wouldn't make it too difficult to understand, while opening up a few more useful settings. Can anyone find any glaring errors in this diagram/ways to simplify it?? I've intentionally left out the tone control(s) as there are quite a few possibilities here. Connections marked 'vol' go to the volume control, wired in the usual way Pete
