I know it´s not a "design" theme, but it could be interesting to have a "Toolbox" theme, to talk about different tools for different jobs, from lutherie to electronics....and to discuss the diferent options in the market, advantages and disadvantages, costs, etc.
I regularly read about 6 guitar related forums, but when I get bored I invariably navigate back here to gawk at startling and innovative achives of schematics that I'm actually beginning to digg, thanks to my edumacated (and infinitely entertaining) cronies on this here site. I think most here would agree with me when I say that I could spend months in the archives and still be catching up. Hmm, I guess that means I have no idears as to where to navigate to from here. Gotta know the box thoroughly before you can think outside of it, eh?
Sorry, I guess this post was just an excuse to wag my tail, thanks again Guitarnutz!
Well, I for one, wouldn't mind seeing all of these things.
I may not understand half of them, but I get inspired by trying to understand the individual little blocks that make up the whole...pile of blocks. (very profound, huh?) I know this helps in designing a project.
Myself, I tend to go to the picture based drawings to gather ideas. (...this is a switch, solder Nhot here, don't eat uranium...) This gets me in trouble as I don't know enough about the fundamentals to get it right. My little 3 p\u - 3 vol. control project is a good example. I figured out just enough to make a pretty piece of wood with wires and things in it... (Eternal Gratitude to ChrisK for pulling my hand out of the fire on that one...)
There are some true wizards at electronics here...there are some eternal apprentices here too. If there is a way to present these concepts (read as: dummy down) in a way that teaches versus overwhelms we would have something great.
Well, that's my 2 cents...
