Some of you may recall the horrible things I did to my Mini Strat. Here's a short clip (miniclip.mp3 3.1M) of something I recorded with it recently. It's panned to the right hand side, tuned to Nashville tuning, and run through an "AC 30". To the left, you'll find my Ric 330, both pickups (parallel), through a "Bassman". The pickup selections represented are those where the rotaries are set to series mode and the phase switch is flipped, first in parallel with each other, then in series. So it's: (N * Mn) - (B * Mb) and then (N * Mn) * (-(B * Mb)) Unfortunately, they are dissimilar parts, so I don't know how much comparison you can do. It gives some idea, though. I go from strumming full chords to just 2 note octaves with a pedal tone and it actually gets louder and more overdriven.

Interesting tones with the series OOP. Out of curiosity, what type/gauge of strings do you use on this, given the short scale and Nashville tuning?

Interesting tones with the series OOP. Out of curiosity, what type/gauge of strings do you use on this, given the short scale and Nashville tuning? It's the "extra set" from an Ernie Ball electric 12-string set starting at 11. It doesn't feel terribly loose here, actually. I can tune it up to A without too much trouble. Since this song's got the open E chord, though...

I
That's an interesting choice, certainly wasn't the answer I was expecting!
They sound good. I wouldn't think you'd want to go any lighter.

They were the heaviest electric set I could find at MF to ship with the mini itself. A bonus to this is that when I string it up I'm left with a set of 11s with a wound G that I can put on any of my full sized 6 strings.
