Have recently acquired a MIM Standard Strat which I plan to shield and ground - came across Guitarnuts looking this stuff up.
The question I have is if there is a known/favoured solution to the set up that I think I would like to get done.
I would like to trial the existing pickup set with the pots configured for a simple Master Volume and Master Tone that would apply to whatever pickup was selected.
I'd then like to use the third pot to control a simple on board active circuitry. I suppose the object is to simplify the pots while enabling a satisfying mid/treble boost to get a better result from my all tube amp. And with the option to dial this back down for the simple strat sound.
We don't often get questions about active electronics. We're a fairly passive bunch here.
What you propose is certainly doable, depending on the electronics you select. Converting to a master tone control is often done, and if you search about our schematics page, I'm sure there are several plans that show how to do that.
The rest depends on whatever active booster you decide to use. Most of these things would, I assume, come with an install diagram that would show you how to wire it in, and probably how to do the master tone as well.
Unless your goal is to build the active boost circuit yourself- that's a whole different subject. Do you plan to purchase this active circuit or DIY it?
