I suppose that there is little one can do with the P90 design to get any noise reduction?? My best shielding effort is doing little for this hot pickup. Thats why kill switches were invented.

With any single coil pup I always run a quality noise gate in addition to the shielding. I have one of these: www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/specialized/progressive/sp902_hot_soapb/in the bridge position on my gibber LP deluxe. the LP is pretty difficult to shield, so I just did the... well, I actually didn't touch it! ;D Boss noise gate takes care of it, and I play with a lotta OD. The OD source also makes a difference. Pedals sometimes seem to be much quieter than amp OD. What is your full rig?

Yah, I have tried the Boss noise gate but have not found it much to my liking. My rig is a BrownNote ODS amp that I built, A dumbleator ( home built ), a Train-wreck Rocket Clone for the wet signal, and a Vanamps reverb unit. Various guitars, Strats, Teles, Gretsch, Danelectro's and SG's. I have a great collection of pedals but do not use them much since I built the ODS amp. And U

I haven't used any of those pedals, to be honest. How much of a difference is there between humbucker hum and the P-90 hum? May try one of those semi hum canceling p-90s from SD. www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/specialized/progressive/stkp1_p90_stack/When I switch from the stock mini on the gibson to the p-90 I hear a difference without the noise gate, but with the noise gate on I don't hear a damn thing. The p-90 just feeds back a bit sooner. I don't have the gate set very high, either. MAYBE a quarter of the way up? I don't know how the noise gate on my ME50 compares to the NS-2. I assume they're at least similar. What didn't you like about the boss noise gate? My setup is... well, right here, actually. That thread you started. guitarnuts2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=guitar&action=display&thread=4338I've never had any issues with noise with that rig, and I've never even shielded that LP. What specific p-90 are you using?
