Hi guys & girls (to be PC), You wiring wizards have come highly recommended and I just registered today to ask this question as I can't find any diagrams to do this (maybe too simple?). I have a normal stock Squire Strat. Can I. by just moving wires. get a Neck & Bridge (Tele) on middle position 3 and have all the other STOCK positions/combinations remain the same as stock? I have been told it's doable but how? I know with an added switch it's the 7 way mod and I have seen the FREE neck switch diagram but I'd prefer to do it w/just the stock 5 way switch and I may go to a master vol & master tone also. thanks in advance for any help...even a NO it won't work would ease my mind at this point!

snny, Hi, and to the NutzHouse! You've pretty much already answered your own question - you can indeed swap the Middle pickup's wire with the Neck's wire on the 5-way switch, and when you select the 2nd position, you'll get Bridge in parallel with Neck. (Here, position numbering starts as 1 is the Bridge pup.) Conversely, you can swap the Bridge and Middle wires, and the magic combo will show up in position #4 instead. Just keep in mind that you're in good company - Sagans of modders have done this since the dawn of the Stratocaster, in order to get "that" Tele tone. Good luck! HTH sumgai

Thank you for the welcome Sumgai. I have in fact swapped the pickups and or wiring in strats BUT, I'm looking for the tele combo to be in the nbr. 3 (middle of the 5 way) position AND keep the other 4 positions the same combos as STOCK. That's the part that's got me crazy

Sunny-
Hello and Welcome!
Bound to drive you crazy. In order to get B+N in pos. 3, this means at the very least that the mid pup cannot also be wired there. And if the mid cannot be wired there, then pos. 2 and pos. 4 are going to change as a matter of course, due to the nature of the std "5-way" lever switch.
A superswitch would do the trick.
Most who want N+B get there via the alternative route of having a neck (or bridge) "on switch", which also then gives one the "all 3 pups" option (desirable, IMO).

I agree with newey - it cant be done with a standard 5-way, and a 4 pole superswitch could do it. But also, you could get one of these megaswitches, E-type, which are specically designed for this combination: www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/1/Megaswitches.html Its simpler than a superswitch John

Thank you all. I was hoping that wasn't the answer but I was thinking it was. But at least I'm not a moron...unless you ask my wife! snbrst
