prolife, Hi, and to the NutzHouse! You'll find the answer to your first question in the middle of this schematic diagram by JohnH. There's a wiring layout diagram just below that, if you need such. As to why your unit might not be doing what you think it should be doing, well, that's a guitar of a different Nut! ;D The article's author didn't sound too impressed with the action of either the Volume control or the so-called "Roll Control", so one might suspect the values of the two pots - they might be 'non-standard' to a fare-thee-well..... If you don't hear any effect when rotating either of those controls, then you likely have other problems, but let's take one thing at a time. HTH sumgai

i later found an article that says: "The roll control works on all the pickups and can go from a thin and twangy (single pick up?) to full and fat (humbucker?) so there are lots of different sound options." www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/reviews/index/manufacturer_id/427my volume and roll control are not instant on or off they seem to graduate variation well. it's the neck pickup it is in humbucker mode only. the av3p is a semi as seen here i may have omited that: www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/38755-vintage-av3p-flame-cherry-red.htmli can see 2 pairs of red and white wires going to the roll control and a white (ground? needed for operation of the roll control.) going to the volume through the f hole. the wiring is very tight. all three pickups are 4 wire and stacked p90s. i took a look also to check on the magnets, as they are supposed to be ceramic, but there is one silver (alnico) and one black (ceramic) within the same pickup. i wonder if one is just some kind of spacer or something as these are only meant to be ceramic? has anyone seen a mix like this before? i
