That is some of the best work I've seen in a long time. I know how much work goes into the mirror clear finish on these guitars. My fingers hurt thinking about it... My hat is off to you.
Seems you've been doing this for a while...
I'm down for the year on my projects...too cold to spray lacquer anymore. I made the mistake of using a burl veneer on one project...I'll be spraying and sanding for a month to fill and flatten that one out. But mine are nothing compared to your work. For anyone not initiated in finishing a guitar this is master class stuff here.
Feel free to post any other samples you've got.
Happy Trails

Thanks for the kind words. I don't deal with the hardware most of the time. The guitars are either stripped of all hardware or they are new bodies and necks. I started doing this back in '94 so I do have a couple years under my belt.

Beautiful!
A buddy of mine has a bike gas tank with the flip/flop flames like on that bass. Very classy. If you're using the Dupont automotive flip paints, I know they're not such a breeze to work with . . .
+1 for master craftsmanship!

Yup same stuff. Pretty expensive stuff. Around $30 per ounce. That body is for my 15 year old nephew. Its going to be a Christmas gift for him.

So here is a picture of the bass all put together. I think the hardware makes the bass look better.

And just in time for Christmas! I hope your nephew doesn't lurk on this board, or he'll think there is no Santa Claus. Seriously, it does indeed look better with the hardware.

Yeah it just finished the look off. When its just a body its really hard to get the total look of it. I'm finishing one for my wife also. Its a carve top strat style guitar. I put the bridge on it and it blew me away on how it looked. I used a baby grand bridge on it. I can't wait to see what it looks like when I get it from my builder. I also used some TV Jones pickups. Those things are amazing looking in person. Here is a picture of it. Its a bad photo because the paint is really hard to get a good picture. It is a paint that I designed when I worked at another shop. Its called black cherry. Under medium to low light it looks almost black. Get it in day light and the metallic jumps to life. When the guitar is all put together I'll post some more pictures of it.
