Amazing. I would love to see more of your stuff. I check out your website probably once every other week, hoping for new images.
Just wondering, do you ever do matte or satin finishes?

Right now I don't post up new finishes on my site. I'm getting ready to launch a new site. I do satin finishes. I can do them over clear or over a color.

Very nice work. I'm still fighting the battle of burl wood and endless coats of lacquer.
Besides, grain filler, which can look like a puddle of sand, is there a better way to build up inclusion prone wood? I'm on my 15th sanded coat of lacquer and wondered if there's an easier way. Inquiring minds...and tired finger want to know...

Hey Cynical1 First, thanks for the kind words about "My First Shielding Project" Appreciated that.
2 years later, but if you're still interested in building up inclusion prone wood, the guys you need to talk to are at Craft Festivals all over the country. My wife and I had a craft business for 16 years, and knew several guys who use a form of Crazy Glue to fill massive voids in all kinds of wood, and the results are rock hard, and beautiful to the eye. I don't recall the chemical name, you'll have to get it from one of the users if I can't get it for you, but one guy crushes lumps of Turquoise that he collects in some Nevada desert, to dust, mixes it with the Crazy Chemical, and then fills large voids in spectacular, heavily voided pieces of wood. From there he goes to his wood lathe, and begins the process of turning the pieces down to bowls and vase's as thin as 1/8th of an inch. The results are pretty dazzling. As I said though, there are a several guys doing this now, in a variety of ways. I just sent an email to one of the guys we used to know, waiting for a reply, but it's been a long time since we spoke. In the meantime, maybe you can do some research yourself and beat me to the answer. I'll letcha know if I get a better answer for you. bean

Well, I'm not sure what the "Crazy Chemical" stuff is...and deserts are pretty few and far between in Wisconsin... I did just cop out and used gel Crazy Glue. It's cleaner then wood filler.
The guitar is almost done. It just needs everything soldered up and it's done. Once I have it buttoned up I'll post some pictures.
I'll have to learn something simple to make some sound files...my picking ability leaves much to be desired and the strings are a lot closer then the bass, so fingerstyle ain't much better...
Happy Trails
