Hello and Welcome!
You're just planning to use a single 1MΩ pot? Are there others, and if so what value will they be?
In general, the sound will be brighter with higher value pots, however, they will have less variation over the length of travel of the pot- almost all the variation will occur in a narrower range.
But the values of the other components come into play as well.

Make all of them 1M. As long as you are shielded well, it is a worthwhile investment.

Using 500K pots for the rest will brighten things up considerably with a 1M pot. But, this is going to be a 4-pot Strat? What is the 1M pot going to be doing?

i wired the bridge and middle pickups in series, which gave a tone like a good double coil, shorted the original bridge input on the switch, which gave me an easy killswitch (which is totally silent), and put in a black rocking switch. not sure what to do with the rocker and pot. ideas? thanks in advance.

Well, we still don't know what type of guitar this is. You said:
So how is the bridge pickup being switched? Do you even have a bridge pickup? And what type of switch is the rocker- single or double pole?

bridge is still through the standard five way. the rocker is in series with the 1m, and it's got only two connections, but isn't hooked up to anything else.

Hmmm. So, you have a 3-pickup guitar, which sounds like it's a Strat-type, although you haven't told us for sure. It has V,T,T pots at 500K@. It has a (presumably) std 5-way switch, wired in the usual way, one supposes. It also has a switch to put the middle and bridge pickups in series "to give a tone like a good double coil" (which implies they are SCs). It has a rocker switch with only 2 connections which implies a SPST. One end of the switch is wired to a 1M pot, which isn't wired to anything else yet, while the other end of the switch is similarly unconnected. Have I got that right? And your question is: What to do with the rocker switch and the 1M pot? I'd say that the pot could be made to do mid tone, that way you'd have separate tone controls for each of the pickups. Or perhaps used as a 2nd volume pot. The switch could be used to turn the mid pup on/off; this would then give you the Tele-ish N+B combo. But, with a single pole switch, you'd be leaving the coil "hanging from hot", as there's no way to ground the output of that pup with just one pole. This could be noisy, depending on the pickups, shielding and several other factors. But there's not much more you can do with a SPST switch (at least, I'm fresh out of bright ideas . . .) The pot could also be wired to do some blending function as another possibility. This is a rather odd question. Usually, we get questions asking: "Here's what I want. How do I achieve this?" Yours is: "Here's what I have. What can I do with it?" If you want an extra pot for some specific purpose, and assuming you can fit that 4th pot somewhere, that's one thing. If you just want to have a 1M pot in your guitar to see what it sounds like, replace your master volume pot with the 1M one (since the vol pot is always in circuit). And, unless you have something specific in mind for the switch, I'd lose it entirely. Now, you wouldn't have gone ahead and already mounted these components in your guitar without knowing what you were going to do with them, would you have? You can tell us if you did so. We're your friends, we're not like the others . . . ;D

haha thanks newey ;D yeah, i already did the mounting. if, for some ungodly reason, i do nothing with them, (and yes, its a Squier Strat) it still looks cool... unfortunately, as my screen-name implies, i am no guitarist. i merely delight in tinkering. as for the formatting of my question, i still have no idea what i want with it. the pups are all singles. there is no switch to put bridge and mid in series, though. instead, i shorted the bridge selector in the five way, and put the two pickups in series like so... --<=>---<=>-- now, assuming that my little illustration is intelligible at all, this is connected to the middle selector on the five way, so that the new double coil has a tone control, and there is silence in the bridge position of the switch. i apologize for the cryptic messages before, and yet to come. thanks.
