that I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mike, and I was just banned from the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) because I asked why there was a need, and for the sake of this post, let's say it was a $30 mandatory payment to use parts of the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) when over the last couple of years the (insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) have collected over $100,000. Of course once I was told by the owner of the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) per their enraged email, that this person retired at age early 40 something, and I was a (Insert choice of descriptive language here), enough was said and I looked for other places to discuss my hobby.
Of course this message is really a snipe hunt to see if the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) is a part of guitar nuts as well because I will in no way support the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here)
I don't mind helping out someone who's intentions are honest and in the open but like the man said don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining.
Am I trying to cause trouble, honestly, a little, but after monitoring something for 3 years, one has to be blind not see what goes on in some places, that or under the influence of (Insert mind altering substance of your choice here). And the type of person that does that knowing that somewhere there's probably a kid sending in his cash, not because it's for club dues or something similar to the fact, but because the (Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here) is a business. There's nothing wrong with being a businessperson and making a living, but don't promote something one place as being one thing and poor old me needs this help to keep our site up and running while all along in the small print it says it's actually a business, which can be understood as many things to include my cash cow, and then bomb blast someone who's actually considering making a contribution to your cause. Of course, maybe that was their best attempt at being honest and I'm totally wrong, but I can't help but feel like someone was trying to swindol my money dishonestly.
Truthfully, I was actually considering making a contribution, but I was also fishing for something that would tip me off if everything was on the up and up. And dotting the "i" and crossing the "t" wise, it probably is, but the way it's done just made me feel dirty.
Now, I'm going to shut up and play my guitar.

I have a feeling I know who you're talking about. He's very protective of his discussion group.

You know, I really can't see the point in people money-grubbing on their own websites. Even the more expensive webhosts charge a few hundred dollars per year for webhosting. So, at most, if you are running a website, it will cost you a whopping $1 per day. Not exactly going to send someone to the poorhouse is it? Something nobody else has mentioned. You find a good site on Google (or whatever) and the description is "everything you need to know for total guitar rewiring". You click on it and it leads you to a BOOK that you must BUY. Hey, some people want to make a buck - nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, I wish Google, the author or both would state that it's a pay site and in that way, you can judge your search results accordingly. Oh by the way, my website is www.1728.com and it is 100% free - no advertising either.

Oh by the way, my website is www.1728.com and it is 100% free - no advertising either. sure, you say that NOW!... ;D but seriously, i don't know what "(Insert money begging guitar site of your choice here)" you mean, mike. (someone PM me who it is so i can hate the guy too!;D) but if it's a site like this one then it's supposed to be a labor of love/special interest group/open to all sorta thing. whoever runs it does so cuz he digs the topic and likes sharing info, not cuz he's interested in getting a few bucks. or maybe we should all start charging for info and tips! hey, wolf, do you like that AGILE that i recommended? well, you owe me $30!! ;D

I don't want anyone to hate anybody, but to be informed and aware that these people are out there in our hobby, Floundering!, Desperately!, for Payment!, of a brothers cash, only to support a secret lifestyle and not for the love of the guitar, the freedom of expression, or the spirit of those who play. In the past, people that did this were known as "sellouts" or simply referred to as "The Man".
"POWER TO THE PEOPLE!" "DOWN WITH THE MAN!" "ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!"

MikeYes, I believe in trying to fight "The Man" as much as possible. (Your comment reminded me of Jack Black's speech about "The Man" in "School of Rock"). My website, by the way, is more than just about guitar rewiring. Need to know how many teasp00ns are in a gallon? Go to www.1728.com/convvol.htmSure, there are some conversion sites on the Internet that will do the same thing but you have to pay to download it. Basically, my website is about taking subjects (math & science in particular) and writing these concepts in plain English. As someone else said it's just a hobby. And Mike, could you send me an E-Mail about the money-grubbing guitar website? All of us have to keep track of "The Man". I can't understand your reluctance to name names though. Here's a little something I had on my website about my rotten experience with AT&T. www.1728.com/att.htmHow come it isn't on my site anymore? Because those jerks at AT&T just outright SOLD their Internet Cable Modem service a few years ago. You see, sometimes you can stick it to "The Man". ;D ******************************************** I had to spell teasp00ns that way because the board censors think it contains a dirty word.

MikeAnd Mike, could you send me an E-Mail about the money-grubbing guitar website? All of us have to keep track of "The Man". I can't understand your reluctance to name names though. I have named them, in as 6 is 5, as big as AT & T and the idividual letters in your name. Search, and you will find them. Yaaaahhhhooooo! If you have been there, and used it, you would know exactly what it is and if you visited it recently, it's so in your face you can't ignore it. I'm not going to come straight out and say who it is because personnally, I don't think that would be proper for me to do. Even if they said something directly about me, I still wouldn't feel right about saying exactly who they were and spreading it around that way. I've composed a funny little story about a site & person I did think a lot of, and didn't think bad things could be true about when I caught a glimpes of a post that was quickly deleted, as mine was, some years back. You live and learn. My little message here is to maybe make someone look a little deeper than they normally would and not take it at face value when they start considering donating money. That's all, really.

Attention all GuitarNuts members. I want a new guitar. Donate money to blah blah blah pooh. Honestly, I've never understood, participated in or condoned the idea that information can be bought or sold like material possessions. Insofar as I have -anything- to do with this community, it will remain free. Just in case you guys are worried I might be getting funny ideas.

GuyaGuy As for your Tang™ question, I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but you could learn how to make the trademark symbol properly. Just go to www.1728.com/altchar.htm

well, actually, I thought the ™ sign is the most practical one (and actually I don't know that much alt characters).

I have a feeling I know the website your referring too, is it slanted more towards one particular brand for guitar?
Welcome to the NutHouse, my friend.
