Hello all! After a couple hours of reading and searching threads I have finally decided to just ask.
Dealing with a p bass and standard wiring, nothing special. Just upgraded pots and output jack. Existing pups are Duncan Basslines 1/4 pounders. Have triple checked wiring against the pots and jacks I removed as well as the diagram from Fender and also Seymour Duncan.
When I plug in fully, I get nothing. Not a single sound. When I pull back out on the plug I get the sweetest tone and the volume and tone pots work as intended.
What could be the problem here?
Thanks in advance!

thumper, Hi, and to the NutzHouse! At first blush, it sounds like the jack itself. Since this is a mostly mechanical part, I think some pictures are gonna be the order of the day. And a copy of your diagram wouldn't hurt either (or a link to it, if it's online), but I think the images are a higher priority. HTH sumgai

lowdenthump- Welcome . I had a similar problem once- Take a look at the area where the plug sits when it's all the way inserted, is it touching something it shouldn't be and shorting to ground? Another thing I'd check are the solder joints on the output jack. If they're loose or even iffy the plug could be causing them to short out when you push the plug all the way in. -lpf3

How many solder terminals are there on the jack?
