yew, I wonder how many people are gonna shoot you when they see the word "Surf" on one of the world's premier blues guitars....... You're speaking of the Gibson Vibrola system, long out of production, but still loved by a few faithful. It's simple, damned near indestructable, and within reason, it just works. Hard to beat that combination, eh? If you're looking at a reproduction unit (from some other company besides Gibson), then I'd think you'd want to try it out first, on another guitar. Either that, or make sure you can return it for a refund, if you end up not liking it. I've handled it, way back in the dim past. I thought it was stiff, but then again, I'm the guy who put a Honda valve spring in his Bigsby-equipped Mosrite.... HTH sumgai

i want a fairly stiff tremolo, as if fins strats have them way too easy to go down too far..
