extra resistors in the circuit - not good, bad for tone.

alright, maybe i'll have to throw in a Gibson style three way switch?Or better yet, a Tele-style 4-way switch. That way you can get a series connection between the two branches, as well as a parallel one. I predict mondo tone here! sumgai

Patience, Grasshopper! ;D
Let's demonstrate first that all the pots and switches you currently have in mind will fit. A 4-way Tele switch is a sizeable item to add to the mix.
There is a "4 way toggle" available somewheres, but I'm not sure that would be a whole lot smaller.
The least space taken by a switch to combine the 2 sets would be a mini toggle DPDT On-On-On. Gibby 3-way toggles are big. So are Tele-style lever switches.

hh, You do understand that anything over 3 or perhaps 4 coils in series is going to be pretty dark-sounding, yes? This is a by-product of a pickup's property we call inductance. Inductance is treated just like resistance (and impedance), in series the values add, in parallel they divide down algebraically. When you add several inductances (coils) you start really thickening up the mids. That's a pre-cursor to what many players call "muddy tone". I'm not saying "don't do it", I'm just saying that you might wanna be prepared here. But on the other hand, it might be very constructive to have each separate section in parallel, and then put those two in series. Or each section in series, then the two in parallel..... I'm not sure I wanna go through the exercise of trying to count up all the possible permutations here....... Start here: In the above diagram: a) you can label either section (HHH or SSS) as the "first" section, there's no magic here, it only a convenience for labeling purposes; b) the first section's negative lead, which would ordinarily go to ground, goes here instead - don't connect to both here and ground; and c) the second section is permanently grounded, there's no switching for it; HTH sumgai

Sorry for the long hiatus... parts were ordered, im just waiting for them to come in.
actually, i still need capacitors for the tone knobs. What capacitors do you recommend for each of these:
SD Hot Rails SD Custom Stack Plus (Brother of SSL5) SD Cool Rails DM True Velvet Bridge DM True Velvet Middle DM True Velvet Neck
0.02microF? 0.047microF? dont forget, each pickup has its own capacitor, so I can get the best one for each pickup
I used my Dremel to wood rout the guitar... worked like a charm =D i love my Dremel ;D ;D
now that i have all this exposed wood surface inside the guitar where i took out the wood, i need to paint it so it doesnt rot out. Any suggestions on what paint to use, or how to paint the inside?
sumgai: what kind of switch is that?

I should mention, in the mean time I did some modding to my amp... nothing too big... I have a Peavey ValveKing 1X12 combo, and I have swapped out the speaker for a Celstion Vintage 30, and tomorrow I will be receiving in the mail all new Electroharmonix Pre-Amp tubes and Power Tubes. The speaker swap made a huge difference in tone, and the tube swap should really make the amp shine.. I highly recommend customizing your amp... its real easy, a lot of fun, and makes a great sound.

You are reccomending ME to go near high voltage electricity? I would short circuit the world if i even thought about it.....
