For my first attempt at rewiring my strat, I used three DPDT toggle switches (on-off-on) to replace the 5-way switching. The sounds I can get are all possible parallel coronations along with bridge mid series and neck mid series, both of which can be combined in parallel with whatever pickup was not used. I can also get {neck bridge par.} in series with the middle. All sound great and are very usable and unique. I'd post a schematic but I still haven't got picture posting kind of stuff figured out yet. The problem I'm running into is in using of the tone pots. Right now I have one master tone and one tone directly wired to the bridge. The bridge tone acts a little weird when its in series with something else. In effect, it goes from ground to bridge pickup, then the positive end branches off to both the tone pot and mid then the mid signal it sent to the amp. I think that having the tone behind the mid is messing with the sound. When I turn the tone, the effects are indescribable which I would guess is from increasing mid tone at the same tine as decreasing the bridge. The effect is not bad but I can never get enough high end. This is just my guess as to what's going on but I don't have a firm grasp on what effects tone pots can have. Does anyone have any Idea what is actually happening here? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by. It's hard to say from the text description, but I think you've pretty much described what's happening. If you've got the tone wired across the bridge pickup, and put the bridge in series with anything else, the tone cap shorts out the highs from the bridge pickup, while allowing the high frequencies from the other pickup to bypass the added inductance from the bridge pickup. We call it "half-parallel" or " broadbucker".

Actually, my design is the same but I grounded the tone and I'm losing the high frequencies; that's why I cant seem to get enough high end. I think Ill just move the tone output to the main output like the "broadbucker". Thanks for the link.
