i added two 500k (one audio, one linear) slider pots to a recent mouser order because they were cheap and i thought could be fun to play with they're small enough to fit under a humbucker ring with a bit of shaving of the ring (i think)
if you could add another pot to a strat, what would it be? separate tone pot for each pickup?

652-PDV20-31P-504A 652-PDV20-21P-504B these things are TINY that bright flash under it is a pick for size comparison it also has a center detent

wow, tiny. and i think those would be less prone to puddling than mine in case of beer catastrophe

yeah and they're like 80 cents i think i'll screw it to the humbucker ring on my strat and make it a third tone control next time i change strings/pickups

How many terminals are on those? I think it would be cool to have a slider where you could pick which coils of the HB you want on. Center is both, neck coil only is towards neck, bridge coil only towards bridge, blend inbetween.....
Back from fanstasy world, the third tone sounds good. Either that or master volume, then switch your normal "volume" into a "tone"

I like the 4x slider pot array. There'd be heaps of things you could do as part of an active system, but on a passive wiring, I think 2 volume and 2 tone is as good as any. With 3 pickups, one slider pair can control bridge and the other N and M J

I got some slider pots...still have them...they were a lot bigger than these things!!!
Still...like fenders attempts at getting push buttons accepted (I have tiny illuminated latching 4pdt switches too that have never been used)...there is probably a reason for that!
As a thought experiment...on an HB and say in a ring, probably sticking out the side, not sticking out where you will hit and break the things with your pick...
I'd tinker with this "spin-select" thing a bit...so say full HB in the middle gradually fading towards the split coil you push it towards.
There is a problem with that though...the spring and mounting screw takes up most of the room in an HB ring...unless you made it bigger.
It could be good for such a control or say a 'master volume' in a stealthy application...as has been brought up in a recent thread...perhaps hidden under an LP pickguard...or say in an archtop where you don't want visible knobs...or the sound hole of an arch or even acoustic guitar. Fader between piezo and mag systems perhaps...
But really...sliders always seem a bit awkward compared to knobs for some reason...odd because visibly you can see exactly where they are.
A more "novel" idea could be to replace the selector switch in say a strat with a slider pickup selector in an active system....
It is possible to set up a voltage trigger to activate say 4066 SS switch chips...as the resistance on the pot changes it would allow different voltages through and with those changes trigger the switches and things like pickup selections along it's travel...as a thought.
I've had in mind an idea for an "active guitar strap"...a preamp and battery with short lead and perhaps a gain control with something like this...perhaps stomp boxes are the more obvious application...
But...they don't look super sturdy and suspect that there are few really good applications compared to toggles and knobs...
