i bought the Stewmac shielding paint. i thought, after seeing pics in one of their manuals, it was going to be nickel or copper based. but it is carbon. i was kinda disappointed, really.
i found some copper CuPro-Cote paint on the net i'm thinking of ordering? though shipping cost is a beast!
question: would you pro's opt for the copper or carbon based paint for painting the control cav of your guitar?

It seems to me that we have had some objective data in the past on aluminum tape vs. copper tape vs. shielding paint, but I don't think anyone had any objective data on carbon paint vs. copper.
So, while my gut instinct says copper would be better, I can't prove it, and if you've already bought the carbon, I'd say use it, check the continuity and see.

The carbon shielding paint is designed to be conductive, which is what you need. The copper paint may be so, but its not certain to be conductive unless it is sold to be that. Is it actually a shielding paint?
I once tested some zinc-rich paint, full of mettalic zinc and intended for corrosion protection. But it did not conduct electricity so no good for shielding.

I've read discussions about nickel-based paint being supperior to carbon-based.

after my semi-efficient aluminum tape efforts, which cost only 3 dollars, i can say with certainty that the best job/price is achieved with copper tape with conductive adhesive. Cheap and effective.
