Hey all,
So I have an Ibanez EX1700. It is an RG with the upper half of the body hollowed out. Being that it is an RG from the early 90's.... the pickups are terrible. So I am looking to replace them. I am getting two humbuckers and a single coil, just to match the routes. The single coil wont be a problem but high gain humbuckers will.
I was thinking a Super Distortion and Super Distortion 2 in the bridge and neck respectively but I have heard that semihollows and SuperD's don't get along. Are there any other pick ups that anyone can recommend. I am thinking either GFS or DiMarzio (my friend gets a deal on DiMarzio).
The DiMarzio website says a crunch lab and a paf pro are good choices... but I am looking for something a bit more bassy for the bridge and trebley for the neck. Or will the body cavity naturally aid in the low end and require more even pickups?
Thanks for the help in advance fellows.

with pups, its a mess, unless you have the oportunity to buy, install and then return the product. There is no way to know the end result before you live with the pup for at least an adequate period to play/try all your styles, sounds and most importantly setups.
IMHO, super distortions would not be a problem, but there are cheaper alternatives.

Legend has it Bill Lawrence offerings will be less likely to clash with the stronger low-end of a hollow-body as far a high output humbuckers go. He makes very fine noisefree singles as well: wildepickups.com

I'm with RTN. The X500's are the way I'd go.
