ok this prob may seem alittle strange but i have a modded strat (that i love with all my heart <3) that i put in a 4 wire humbucker and a stock single coil (*note the single coil is dead, i just like keeping it in there to always remeind me to hook it up). the wiring is set up as a 1 hb 1 vol like EVH with a killswitch (that broke so i need to take it out). but i wanted to do a wiring that will be not unusuall but different. ive seen guitars with a 1 sc and 1 hb but i was wondering if it was possible to have a 1 hb and 1 sc, 1 vol, and 3 way (i wanna say lp style) switch. can someone please help me with this dream that i have dreamed ever since messing around with this guitar!!

if this is a strat why not just use a 3way blade and wire it for pos,1=hb coil1. pos,2=hb coil2. pos,3= both coils together. put your (LP) 3way at the volume pos, on your pickguard wire it for pos,1-hb&blade switch. pos,2-is your single coil, and the middle is both hb blade&single coil add a master volume and master tone after that and your all set!!! ;D

it was only after i posted that i noticed you want a killswitch this is simple to do without sacrificing your tone pot. just simply replace your volume pot with a push pull pot wire the main 3 lugs as a normal volume and then run a jumper from the pup input lug to either of the 2 very bottom lugs and a jumper from your tone output lug to the lug directly above the volume jumper lug. this should give you full sound in the down pos, and absolutely nothing in the up pos,.

but if your dead set on a switch. i'd recommend an spst on/off switch you can get them from radio shack in a wide variety of shapes and sizes for around $2 a piece they have 2 lugs ones a positive(on pos,) the other a negative(off pos,) so install it either after your tone or just remove your tone completely wire the positive volume output to the on side, and then your ground wire to the off side, then run to your output as normal from your dead switch

now theres 2 types of on/off switches i'd recommend 1 is your standard on/off toggle the other is a push button that looks exactly like a guitar stomp switch. now the push button comes in 2 varieties, 1 is a true on/off switch and the other is called a momentary switch and only works when physically held down. if using the true on/off wire +to+ & -to-, then to jack. for a momentary its +to- & -to+ then to jack. the momentary switch is perfect for playing tom morello styled stuff too...

destructocaster- Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2! jfrank linked you to a Tele diagram, but an LP style toggle switch can be used as well. The Tele lever switch makes some sense, since you presumably already have the slot to mount it. An LP toggle is even easier to wire than the Tele switch, although less versatile. But, since you're rewiring it anyway (and assuming the HB is a 4-wire type), you could just get a regular Strat-style 5-way switch and wire it like this: guitarnuts2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=modules&action=display&thread=3761

i checked out that diagram and i believe this would be better suited for a strat anyway... But going with the 3+3 rout gives you=coil1, coil2, full HB, coil1+neck, coil2+neck, full HB+neck, and then just neck!!! 7-total sounds were the other only 5. this can also be done without the (LP) switch by using 2 push pull pots on vol, p/p wire the blade active in the down pos, and on the tone p/p wire the single neck coil to the up pos, also vol, p/p up, and tone p/p down gives you a dead signal like you want

But which ever of those 2 routes you use your losing your tone so, unless you ''just like'' the natural sound of the pups try this....

its a completely passive (meaning no batteries, unless you want an LED) tone pedal. using the same circuitry as a guitar, master volume and 2 tones. the other 2 round things are DP6T rotary switches each wired with 6 capacitors. i recommend you designate each switch, 1 for treble .001uf-.047uf, and the other for your bass .050uf-.100uf. all of the electronic parts can be purchased at radio shach really cheap. the DP6T rotary switches are $2.99 a piece.

the only parts not available at radio shack are the, 3PDT stomp box switch, and the housing to hold it. i'd recommend checking your closest music stores for the stomp switch, and i'll recommend a 2 gang lightswitch or similar electronics box and cover, available at any hardware store for around $2, to $7 for the box and between $0.50 to $2.75 for the covers pending on desired size and style
