3 way switch single PU question

Can you use a 3 way blade switch wired only to a single coil PU so that all it does is have it turn on and off?

If so could you use the 3rd position to go out of phase?

"oop" means "oop with another pup" so, no But you can easily make it just turn off and on. The tricky part is to not wire the non existent other pup to the switch Probly, you will get your pup on in 2 positions and off in the 3rd.

A std. Tele -style 3-way lever switch is a 2-pole switch, so, yes, you can wire it as on/off/OOP, provided you do have another pickup to combine it with in the OOP setting, as JFP notes.
